Counter-Entities are humanoid, metallic, and highly organized entities that roam levels in groups. They vary from being extremely aggressive to docile, and even the slightest provocation could make them attack wanderers on sight, but at other times, can be docile and even possibly helpful. They use firearms and appear to wear military body armor and uniforms; however, closer inspection reveals it has been molded into their bodies. Counter-Entities will feed off of minerals and materials in the Backrooms, establishing and transforming tiny parts of the levels into shelters and fortifications, which have been nicknamed depots.

Counter Entities1

Counter-Entities spend much of their time patrolling around these depots, being extremely territorial and aggressive to any entities or wanderers trying to enter. Due to constant patrolling and unavoidable combat, the Counter-Entities, when in their depots, will often be hooked to machines that re-supply a small part of their body responsible for administering drugs. These drugs relieve severe pain, limit emotional capability, and cause a steroid-like effect in Counter-Entities.

Behaviors[]

Counter-Entities are hyper-aggressive yet coordinated. For example, Counter-Entities may attack wanderers unprovoked and will attempt to kill other entities on sight, regardless of the entities' strength or docility. While being hostile and unable to be composed around most living matter, Counter-Entities do not seem to show aggressive behaviors to one another, instead having the effect of being much less aggressive and more social and docile, along with this they are able to effectively coordinate with each-other, using military tactics to fight and survive, meaning they are able to ambush, flank, surround, and are able to pull off much more complicated tactics.

Counter-Entities, as said before, will set up depots that serve as their home and base. They will patrol around these depots and will attack anything attempting to get into the depot. The Counter-Entities spend much of their time at these depots, resting, eating, mingling and generally relaxing. Counter-Entities will also scour the area around the depot for entities and collect resources around the depot, and then send them to a central depot of the level, which acts as the command point for them.

In addition for protection and safety, depots produce an assortment of essential supplies for the Counter-Entities, such as food, provisions, drugs, and water. As well as producing these important stockpiles, they also seem to terraform parts of the level, by coating the walls, ceilings, and floor with metal plating and various machinery, as well as creating fortifications and traps, making the surrounding areas even more dangerous.

Biology[]

A Counter-Entity's biology is eerily similar to a human's, due to the fact that much of their body appears to have been modified, using the human body as a basis. Much of the flesh and skin appears as a light to dark gray, with Kevlar, zinc, and steel mixed into the skin and flesh; the bones appear to be consisting out of an extremely metallic calcium material. Body armor appears to have been attached to a counter-entity, even armor like knee pads and elbow pads appear to have been connected to the body, in addition, they have a regenerative effect like skin, suggesting they may be a part of the body entirely.

Head[]

The brain of the counter-entity appears to be made out of computer parts, although the shape and some parts of the brain still remain, albeit modified. The eyes of the Counter-Entities appear to have been modified into cameras, providing eyesight for the Counter-Entity. The throat of the Counter-Entities seems to be blanketed by a steel tube and machinery, doing the functions of the throat.

Torso and Arms[]

The lungs of the counter-entity seem to be designed for maximum efficiency, appearing unrecognizable when compared with a wanderer's lungs, with the heart, kidney, and liver appear to be in the same situation, with the heart's veins and vessels appearing to be minuscule pipes escorting blood throughout a counter-entity's body, all of this indicates that the body has been designed for pure and utter efficiency. Much of the organs seem to have industrial machine parts functioning.

Legs[]

The legs of a counter-entity seem to have been artificially strengthened in order to attain increased speed and endurance, with the bones having an exoskeleton of rebar around them for better support, resulting in the counter-entities being staggeringly quick.

Discovery[]

The exact date of the first sighting is unknown, but the first sighting is level 2. During which a few wanderers noticed that there were staggeringly less entities in their area then there were before, upon investigating further, they led themselves to an equipment room, but instead of the relentless onslaught of the same brick walls, steel plates encompassed the rooms, wires laid about in uniform, the lights cut and only a low humming bulb illuminating the room with a soft blue, and six figures, staring at them with battering eyes of cyan, and only one of the wanderers made it out that day.
