House Plumm is a noble house of the westerlands. Neither their arms or their motto appear in the books. According to semi-canon sources, they blazon their arms as three purple rondels on gold.^[2] Their words are "Come Try Me".^[3]

History

The Plumms are an ancient line, dating back to the days of the First Men.^[1]

The aged Lord Ossifer Plumm married Princess Elaena Targaryen in 176 AC, during the reign of King Aegon IV Targaryen.^[4][5] He is said to have died during the bedding, after conceiving a son.^[4] However, rumors later suggested that Lord Ossifer had died before he was able to consummate the marriage, and that the child instead had been fathered by King Aegon himself.^[4][6] The claim that Ossifer fathered a child after his death led to the saying that he had had "a cock six feet long".^[5][7]

Regardless of the true paternity of the child, Elaena's son, Viserys Plumm, inherited Ossifer's lands and titles. Viserys ruled throughout the reign of King Daeron II Targaryen, and still ruled during the early years of the reign of King Aerys I Targaryen.^[8]

Ser Petyr Plumm participated in the tourney at Ashford Meadow in 209 AC.^[9]

Ser Maynard Plumm was among the hedge knights gathered by a lake on their way to Lord Ambrose Butterwell's wedding festivities in 212 AC. Maynard assisted Ser Duncan the Tall during the Whitewalls tourney, but he went mysteriously missing when the Second Blackfyre Rebellion was quashed.^[8]

According to a semi-canon source, the Plumms supported Tywin Lannister when he suppressed the Reyne-Tarbeck rebellion.^[10]

Recent Events

A Storm of Swords

Brown Ben Plumm is chosen commander of the Second Sons after the death of the Titan's Bastard. He has a mixed heritage, claiming to be part Braavosi, part Summer Islander, part Ibbenese, part Qohorik, part Dothraki, part Dornish, and part Westerosi. When Daenerys Targaryen's dragon Viserion acts friendly with Ben, he tells her it is because he has "a drop of the dragon blood", which startles her. Ben says that his Plumm ancestor was a lord who married "a dragon princess", and was famous due to having a six-foot-long penis.^[5]

Among others, the brothers Plumm are sent to the riverlands by Lord Tywin Lannister to find Jaime Lannister after Tywin receives notice of his son's release.^[11]

A Feast for Crows

Ser Harwyn Plumm, known as Hardstone, clears broken men from Darry.^[6]

When Jaime Lannister tells Queen Cersei Lannister that there is no worry that her son King Tommen I Baratheon could consummate his marriage with Margaery Tyrell, as Tommen is "much too young", Cersei replies that Ossifer Plumm "was much too dead", but that didn't stop him from fathering a child. She intends to explain that any child of Margaery's could be recognized as being fathered by Tommen, even if it was physically impossible for him to impregnate her. However, Jaime becomes confused, not recognizing Ossifer's name, so Cersei tells Jaime to forget him and simply guard Tommen until sunrise.^[6]

Lord Philip Plumm is among the gathered nobility that escort the corpse of Tywin back to Casterly Rock.^[12]

Harwyn Hardstone is named the commander of the garrison at Darry Castle. He is away hunting outlaws when Jaime visits the castle. He is possibly involved romantically with Lord Lancel Lannister's wife, Amerei Frey.

A Dance with Dragons

Tyrion Lannister encounters Brown Ben Plumm, and speculates he is descended from a younger son of Viserys Plumm, and that rather than the "drop of dragon blood" Ben claims is in his family tree, there are "Two drops. That, or a cock six foot long",^[7] suggesting that Tyrion believes the rumors about Ossifer's posthumous child being fathered by Aegon IV Targaryen.
