  • The title of the episode is a parody of The Helsinki Formula, a hair growth restoration product.
  • This is the first episode to revolve around infomercials. The Pinky and The Brain spin-off episode "But That's Not All Folks" would later feature the mice advertising their mystery product in real-time.
  • Amazingly Fantastic Stuff is a parody of the infomercial program Amazing Discoveries.
  • Brain's line of "Not only am I the President of Small Club for Men" is a riff on the tagline for the Hair Club for Men commercials.
  • The shot of Brain holding a microphone has been used for promotional posters for the Pinky and the Brain spin-off series.
  • This is the first episode in which Pinky asks an additional question to "what are we gonna do tomorrow night?", which would be a running gag in the Pinky and The Brain spin-off. In this cartoon, he asks "a slumber party?"
  • The episode ends with a variation of the Pinky and The Brain theme with the chorus adding "yodel-ay-hee-hoo".
