Rovio Entertainment Corporation (casually known as Rovio) is a Finnish game developer founded in 2003, when it was named Relude before 2005. From 2005 to July 2011, they were known as Rovio Mobile. They developed a worldwide popular hit mobile game, Angry Birds in 2009 to save them from bankruptcy.
The studio had 40 employees at the start of 2011, to which they expected to reach 100 by the end of the year.[1]
On April 15, 2023, Rovio confirmed that it was in takeover talks with Japanese video game developer Sega, with a deal close to $1 billion.[2] Rovio rejected an earlier bid from Israeli mobile company Playtika for ~$736 million a month prior.[3]
