Alan Wake II releases 27 October 2023
At the PlayStation Showcase, Alan Wake II's release date was revealed to be 27 October 2023. Gameplay was shown for the very first time, which you can watch the gameplay trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0vNoRhuV_I
PlayStation.Blog also released a blogpost from Communications Director, Thomas Puha, detailing certain aspects of the game, which now includes a second protagonist alongside Alan himself, named Detective Saga Anderson. Alan and Anderson will each have their own respective campaigns which can be played in any order.
Across the game, players will explore three locations as Saga Anderson: the forests of Bright Falls, the bustling and vibrant New York City and the abandoned town of Watery, as they uncover a mystery surrounding a mysterious cult that has been murdering various citizens. As Alan himself, players will journey across the Dark Place, which is as twisted and ever changing as ever.

Alan Wake Remastered - 100% Achievement & Trophy Walkthrough
For a little while now I have been creating a video walkthrough to help new players earn 100% of all achievements/trophies in Alan Wake Remastered, and more importantly to tie it within this Wiki.
Please find the walkthrough below:
- Episode 1: https://youtu.be/bq5t1MQer9k
- Episode 2: https://youtu.be/rfFGGqmQwno
- Episode 3: https://youtu.be/v3twjMNYFBk
- Episode 4: https://youtu.be/aJU8Z6mThR8
- Episode 5: https://youtu.be/vt-1G8H7bWE
- Episode 6: https://youtu.be/tY5OdriQ0Rk
The walkthrough contains timestamps to let you know where every collectable is, all the achievements that are earned as well as some of tips on how to earn some of them and just some general tips on how to get through the game for new players.
As for the specials, as they're not required for all the achievements/platinum trophy, I'm going to wait a little bit before I make walkthroughs for those.
Hopefully some of you find this useful!
Many thanks,
Kranitoko

Contributions Welcome!
Hi everyone!
So if you're joining because of the recent Alan Wake Remastered announcement, or returning because of that and Control, welcome!
I'm writing this post as this wiki is in need of a vast update. I've done some various changes; you may notice the homepage has been given a facelift since it was using an old template from way back in 2010. However there are many articles that still need pages for, most specifically anything Alan Wake related that appears in the Control video game.
One thing I'd absolutely like to try to have, at least on all the "character" pages, is a list of appearances of where a character appears in. So for example, Cynthia Weaver. She appears in Alan Wake, Episode 1 and Episode 5, so that could be linked at the bottom of her character page; just so that we have some sort of references. See here as an example on Alan Wake himself: https://alanwake.fandom.com/wiki/Alan_Wake#Appearances
Apart from that, if you find any red broken links, see if you can find the a…

Alan Wake Remastered Announced
Rumoured since June 2021, Sam Lake, the co-founder of Remedy Entertainment, took to Twitter to announce through a post on Alanwake.info (The Sudden Stop fan-site) that a remastered version of Alan Wake is indeed real and coming in Fall 2021.
"Alan Wake Remastered is the original experience you fell in love with all those years ago. We did not want to change that. But the visuals all around, including the character model of Alan Wake himself and the cinematics, have been updated and improved with some choice next-generation upgrades."
As recent as this past weekend (4th-5th September) Alan Wake Remastered had been leaked on various online stores, though these were quickly taken down. One thing these sites had in common is they stated a release date of October 5, 2021, so it's quite possible we'll hear more about the remaster incredibly soon.
You can read the full post here: https://www.alanwake.info/2021/09/remaster.html

Alan Wake Remastered Coming Soon?
Wario64, known to finding deals and information relating to upcoming video games, has spotted that a listing for Alan Wake Remastered can be found on the Epic Games Store.
Previously it was rumoured that Alan Wake 2 was coming and that it would be published by Epic Games also, which would make sense. Whether or not Alan Wake 2 or even Alan Wake Remastered are Epic Games Store exclusives or will also come to console is yet to be seen.

Alan Wake 2 Rumoured to be Published by Epic Games
After a new Alan Wake title was seemingly teased in the second DLC of Control, we have a new rumour on its development.
On Jeff Grubb's Twitch stream titled "Jeff Grubb's Game Mess", he stated that the rights to publish Alan Wake 2 was actually in a bidding war, and Epic Games was the one who won the rights to publish it. Previously Remedy had stated they were working with Epic Games to have multiple new games published.

Alan Wake Returns to Steam
Yesterday (25th October 2018) Alan Wake returned to Steam just in time for Halloween.
To celebrate this, Remedy has also slashed the price of it by 80%, selling at £2.28/$3.00. What's better is that the entire franchise is currently selling at 80% off, which means it includes Alan Wake's American Nightmare also.
Currently the game is only available digitally on Steam but Remedy have stated the game will return to other digital stores soon. The reason why Alan Wake was removed from digital stores in the first place was due to licensing issues of some of the songs found in the game.

Alan Wake TV Show Announced
Showbiz site Variety has just exclusively revealed that Alan Wake will be adapted into a TV show.
The TV show, which currently does not have a release window, will be adapted by 'Legion' and 'Cloak and Dagger' Executive Producer Peter Calloway with creator of the Alan Wake franchise Sam Lake also signed up to executive produce.
Tomas Harlan, a partner of the studio named Contradiction Films tasked in developing it said "Alan Wake was basically a TV series that was put into a game. That was Sam’s vision. It was influenced by ‘The Twilight Zone,’ ‘Secret Window,’ Hitchcock, ‘Northern Exposure,’ a lot of U.S. television. We plan to work closely with Sam on our this show. Sam is a huge part of this. This is his baby.”
Sam Lake previously stated back in 2015 a sequel had previously been in development but it never came into fruition. "Definitely what we have mapped out is a longer thing than the first game and a sequel; there is more to it,” Lake said. “In many ways, we see the universe as a …

Introducing New Gaming Footers
The new game footers are brought to you by Encyclopedia Gamia and our very own Games Hub. The basic goal is simple: draw together Wikia communities in one location that enjoy the same genres and hopefully expose them to some new games and communities they might be interested in. Our secondary goal is to try and connect editors looking for help with members and administrators from other wikias who are interested in helping them out, whether it be with content, technical knowledge, or insight gleaned from running a community.
If you haven't already been approached, feel free to include your site in the submission section below in the genre you feel is most appropriate for the game you cover. Note that, with rare exception, a game should only be placed in one footer.
Here are some other things to consider:
- A member or members of the site should be willing to help those that might ask for assistance in creating their own wikia. Obviously this is at member discretion; members aren't absolutel…

Remedy Have NOT Given Up on Alan Wake 2
When Remedy revealed their newest game, Quantum Break, there were a lot of people who were less than pleased with it. Many fans were expecting Alan Wake 2, only to be disappointed.
A day after the announcement, Sam Lake took to YouTube and talked to Remedy's fanbase about the prospects of Alan Wake 2 and why it is not in development.
"When Alan Wake came out, it was not a huge hit on day one. It has been doing really well since then, and has moved more than three million – which is a nice figure. But when the game was released, that was not the case immediately. And even though we worked hard on it, the sequel was not happening. The time wasn’t right for that."
Although things seemed doomed, Lake did not say this was the end.
"We definitely want to keep on working on Alan Wake. I definitely want to create something new for Alan Wake when the time is right."
It's possible we could see Alan Wake 2 sometime after the release of Quantum Break. The end of the video also revealed something sneak…

Remedy Announces "Quantum Break" for Xbox One
The next Xbox was revealed today, being called the "Xbox One". Whilst most of us were hoping for an Alan Wake 2 announcement, we got something else instead.
Mixing live-action scenes and gameplay, Remedy announced Quantum Break. Not much is known about it yet, but what we saw was a family moving house with a little girl revealing she has some strange power to her mother. We then see a ship crash into a boat.
The game will use the element of time, much to that of Remedy's "Bullet time" in Max Payne. The tagline is "Time is the fire in which we burn."
The game is due to be released exclusively on the Xbox One in 2014.

Next Xbox to be Revealed May 21st - Alan Wake 2 Announcement?
In February, Sony took to the stage to reveal their next generation console, the Playstation 4. This May, it's officially Microsoft's time, where they have scheduled an event Xbox related, with the tagline "A New Generation Revealed".
"On Tuesday May 21st, we’ll mark the beginning of a new generation of games, TV and entertainment," Major Nelson wrote.
"On that day, we’ll be holding a special press event on the Xbox campus and we invite you to join us via the live global stream that will be available on Xbox.com, Xbox LIVE and broadcast on Spike TV if you are in the US or Canada.
"On that day, we’ll share our vision for Xbox, and give you a real taste of the future. Then, 19-days later at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, we’ll continue the conversation and showcase our full lineup of blockbuster games."
Remedy stated at the beginning of the year that they can finally reveal what they've been working on these past couple of years. Remedy is, of course, quite friendly …

More Achievements Added!
Hey Guys,
So yesterday, I updated the default achievements for the wiki.
I have now added 4 more sets of achievements you can earn from either:
1. Editing either Alan Wake (Character), Insane Alan and Mr Scratch. I only want the "Alan Wake (character)" on these three characters. If the tag is placed on any other character for cheating, then you have been warned...
2. By editing any Character article that has the "Characters" tag on it.
3. By editing any Achievement article with the "Achievements" tag on it.
So that adds another 1140 points to earn! :D
Thanks again,
Charlie

Arcade Mode In Alan Wake's American Nightmare
Remedy Entertainment has announced that within the spin-off Alan Wake's American Nightmare, there will be an arcade mode entitled Fight 'Till Dawn, which will have players placed into an intense battle with waves and waves of enemies coming after Alan Wake. Wake will attempt to overcome these enemies as he gains new weapons and safe havens and attempts to rack up a higher and higher score. This mode will also feature online leaderboards that will enable you to see who is the best player out of all of your friends.
What do you think about the addition of this arcade mode? I personally think that it will lead to a lot more replay value in the game and it seems pretty cool.

Alan Wake Officially Coming to PC
It's a PC gamers dream! What started out as a rumor when the game was found on Steam's registry just yesterday, it has been announced that Alan Wake is indeed coming to PC.
In 2005, the game was originally going to be on the PC. Throughout the years, the Xbox 360 and PS3 were added to that, until finally the game only came out on the Xbox 360. Finally, the PC gamers dream has come true.

Alan Wake found on Steam's Registry
Earlier today, Alan Wake was found on Steam's registry. This could be all that is needed to confirm the existence of the PC release, after Sonic Generations was also placed on the registry, where the PC version was later confirmed and released.
Just after the reveal of Alan Wake's American Nightmare, Remedy’s Aki Järvilehto said in an interview:
“We have received feedback from a lot of PC gamers, and I have to admit that yes, we somehow ignored that. Let’s see if in the near future we could have some positive news to tell you about dating!“

Alan Wake mentioned on an artist's LinkedIn page
It's been a while since the last Alan Wake-related news. However, it looks like Alan Wake 2 might be coming soon!
Althea Gata, an artist who worked at Halon Entertainment in April 2011, mentioned having worked on in-game cinematics for Alan Wake 2 on her LinkedIn page. This bit has since been removed. Halon Entertainment is a company responsible, among other things, for the Deliver Hope live-action trailer for Halo: Reach.
Alan Wake developer Oskari Hakkinen said last year that Microsoft had the option to pick up a sequel to the original game and suggested that the second game would be developed more quickly than the first time, which was being worked on for 5 years.

Remedy have said that we will find out what this is all about on Wednesday 9th June.

Please do this on any page that WILL contain spoilers of the game.

Small Character Infobox Change
Hey guys,
I've come up with a different way for the character infobox. Instead of putting all the episodes the character was in, to make it neater, i have changed it from episodes to first appearance and last appearance.
Below is what it used to be and also below is what it should be. This is taken from Emil Hartmans page. If you see the "episodes" section missing from the character, please change it to first and last appearance as I cannot track all the characters.
NOTE: Please only put last appearance on dead characters ;)
BEFORE
Also when doing this, please put BF (for Bright Falls) or AW (Alan Wake) to also state if the episode was Bright Falls or Alan Wake. Please do as it is shown above when linking. If you are still unsure on this, please let me know.

You can watch Jeff discuss this rumour here:

Thanks again,
Charlie

These four are so simple! Feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. You know, just for the achievement :D Also, leave a comment on this blog post. It'll count towards the "You Suck, Eddie" achievement. And how about you let people get to know you a bit and introduce yourself with a blog post :) And why not create your user page and mention it in that very same blogpost.
There's plenty of achievements to get. As of yet, the images are def…

New Alan Wake Game Revealed
Remedy Entertainment have revealed that they are working on an Alan Wake game, however, it is not Alan Wake 2, neither is it more DLC.
"Oskari Häkkinen said "Fans of the franchise will be excited to learn that, yes, more Wake is coming! But to be absolutely certain to avoid confusion, this next Wake installment will not be Alan Wake 2. But neither will it be DLC. The rest we're saving for our official announcement when we'll actually SHOW YOU.""

Alan Wake Has Sold Over 500,000 Copies!
Bit of late news, but a few weeks ago, Alan Wake surpassed 500,000 copies worldwide! Bare in mind this is an Xbox 360 game, so this is quite a huge achievement.
As of 11 July, the game has sold 543,128 copies. Heres hoping the game will get to a million by the end of the year.
Here's to the next 500,000!

Alan Wake Live Teaser
Yesterday, Remedy released a Live Action teaser to an upcoming project to do with Alan Wake.
Not much is known about it but in the video, it looks like the guy holding the woman is Alan holding Alice in his arms whilst fighting back Taken. It also looks as if Alan has found yet another manuscript page. Right at the beginning and near the end of the video, it looks like Alan is on the floor holding the Clicker.
Remedy have said that we will find out what this is all about on Wednesday 9th June.
Article Spoiler Template
IF YOU ARE READING THIS FROM MAIN PAGE, PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE NEWS ARTICLE
Hey guys,
To help make Alan Wake Wiki more spoiler safe for those who have not yet completed the game, I have added a spoiler template. All you have to do is right at the top of the page (above the infobox if there is one), add:
It will look like:
Please do this on any page that WILL contain spoilers of the game.
Thanks ;)
