The deed to Whet Soba was a piece of evidence in the trial of Bucky Whet for the murder of Taifu Toneido.

The deed went to Bucky after his father's death, but Taifu "stole" it to help motivate him into improving. He kept the deed in his room's safe. Bucky was later accused of killing Taifu to get the deed back. He was acquitted, however, and Simon Blackquill helped him see that Taifu had never actually meant to steal the shop from him, as Bucky was still named as the deed holder.
