The college finance officer (CFO) is the official at the Polytechnic responsible for, in a manner of speaking, paying the bills. This official is responsible to the principal and is directly responsible for two assistant finance officers and a troop of support staff in the accounts department. It is in many ways the most consequential department because that is where the money is. 

In fulfilling the responsibilities of this office, the CFO prepares and monitors the college budget and cash flows. He or she also develops, implements, and monitors financial and investment policies, plans, strategies, procedures and regulations. This official is also responsible for facilitating the management and revaluation of assets and stores. 

Together with the principal and other top-management officials, the CFO must mobilize resources for the college to run and to establish investment ventures. However, it is solely the responsibility of the CFO to prepare financial statements and other reports. The CFO must also facilitate access to insurance and pension portfolios.
