The Malaysia United People's Party (MUPP) / Parti Bersatu Sasa Malaysia (BERSAMA) is a political party in Malaysia. Originally known as Parti Demokratik Setiahati Kuasa Rakyat Bersatu Sabah (SETIA), the party changed its name after it extended to Peninsular Malaysia on 23 March 2011.[1]
History
[edit]The Malaysia United People's Party (MUPP) or Parti Bersatu Sasa Malaysia (BERSAMA) formerly known as the United Sabah People's Power Democratic Party (SETIA), is a political party in Malaysia. SETIA was founded in 1994 by Shuhaiddin Langkap in the state of Sabah. Despite its Bumiputera-centric platform, membership was open to all ethnicities, and its leadership included representatives from various communities. The party contested as the opposition in Sabah state elections. SETIA rebranded as BERSAMA on March 23, 2011, expanding its reach to the peninsular region.
