Extracted is an American reality competition television series that premiered on February 10, 2025 on Fox. It is filmed in the Canadian wilderness.[1]
Format
[edit]12 Teams comprised of 1 amateur survivalist ("Competitor") and their friends/family members ("Companions") are sent into a forested area in British Columbia, Canada. The Competitors must survive in the wilderness by building shelter, finding food and doing whatever they can to sustain themselves while their actions are monitored by cameras throughout the area. The Companions will be watching their teammates on monitors via a live feed in a studio a distance away from the wooded area. At set intervals throughout the competition the Companions will have the opportunity to aid the Competitors by building survival packages containing necessary items such as food and tools that will be delivered to them via drone.
The Competitors are informed that they will have no control on when their participation in the competition ends. If at any time the Competitor(s) feel that they cannot continue in the competition or if the Companions feel that it is too dangerous for them to continue on, the Companions in the studio can walk up to a red "EXTRACT" button in the center of the room and press it. Doing so will immediately send an extraction team in to evacuate the Competitor(s) to safety, but it will also eliminate the entire Team from contention.
The last Team standing will win a Grand Prize of $250,000.

Production
[edit]The series' pickup was announced on May 13, 2024 at Fox's upfronts,[3][4][5] with its premiere date of February 10, 2025 divulged on December 2.[6][7][8][9][10][11] The competitors and teams were revealed the next month on January 14, 2025.[2]
