Fairy Lantern

Just a quick post today to show this pretty little fairy lantern. It's loaded with detail, so apologies for the picture overload.

I know that there are several versions of this type of lantern knocking around the internet. However, mine is super quick and super simple and avoids all that faffing around with glue and tissue paper. It also avoids the hit and miss painting on glass process!

Want to know more? Check out the instructions below.

  1. Cover a jar with Xcut adhesive vellum.
  2. Dab Blanc Artiste Acrylic Paint onto the remaining glass areas of the jar. Paint the lid with Metallic Gold Artiste Acrylic Paint.
  3.   Using black card, die cut a fairy and a selection of flowers from the Xcut Meadow Flowers die set.
  4. Glue the fairy and some flowers to the inside of the jar.
  5. Brush Craft Planet PVA glue onto the painted areas of the jar and allow it to dribble in places. Sprinkle sparingly with Papermania Fine Iridescent Glitter.
  6. Punch a selection of flowers, butterflies and leaves from using Xcut punches and dies.
  7. Create a handle from docrafts Craft Wire, attach to the jar using Stick Hot Glue.
  8. Place the lid onto the jar and embellish with a craft wire stems, butterflies and a selection of the foliage, ensure that nothing is obstructing the movement of the lid.
  9. Thread Papermania Alphabet Charms onto twine to create the hanging WISH ornament.
  10. To finish, place a battery operated tealight inside the jar and replace the lid.
I hope you like my take on the captured fairy lantern?

Thanks for stopping by today.

Thank you fairy much!

Another quick and easy card from me today.

1.   Cut a piece of watercolour card to fit the Xcut Flower Fairies folder and then run through the Xpress die cutting machine.

2.   Scribble selected colours from the Santoro watercolour pen set onto an acrylic block. Using a water brush to pick up the pigment, carefully colour the raised images.

3.  Create a card base measuring 11cm x 14.5cm from white cardstock. Trim the watercolour card to fit the base, leaving a narrow border.

4.  Glue Anita’s Pastel Vellum on the reverse side of the image attach to the card using foam pads.

5.   Add some Craft Planet Iridescent Glitter glue to the dragonflies and fairies. To finish pop on an Anita's glittered sentiment.

Octavia Moonfly - Unicorn Dreams Pop Up Box Card

Just a quickie from me today. I wanted show you my latest card using the new Octavia Moonfly Collection from Polka Doodles which is available not only as a CD and full digital download but also as individual digital downloads. I'm going to apologise in advance for the picture overload, but this card was so tricky to photograph and I'm still not sure that my pictures do it justice!

Anyway, I've made a little pop up box (the template for which can be found on the new Work & Play 9 Collection). I think I'm officially addicted to making these and actually can't think that I'm going to bored of making them as everyone is so completely different - I just hope you guys don't get bored of seeing them!

I coloured the image with Prisma Pencils (go gentle with me I'm still learning and experimenting with them) and used a selection of die cuts.

All of the papers were from the collection and as I needed a lemon paper and there wasn't one, I simply changed the colour in word. To finish, everything has been given a generous sprinkling of glitter to add to the magical, dreamy effect.

For those of you who have ever wondered whether or not I have any help with my projects, well I can confirm that I do! Luckily this one passed Lillie's stringent quality check!

Oh just one more thing before I go. Polka Doodles is having a DT call and we need talented people for our Challenge Blog and Facebook Team. If you're interested in applying please pop over and read our requirements ( the closing date says the 7/2/2015 but we still have a few places so please do apply) http://polkadoodle.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/design-team-call.html

Right that's me done for today. So thanks for dropping by.

There's a fairy at the bottom of my garden.....

and her name is Wendy Woo...... OK so I know the words to song are really "there's a worm at the bottom of my garden and his name is Wiggly Woo..." but for some reason I couldn't stop singing my version of it whilst making this card. I drove myself and everyone else in the house nuts with it :/ but hey it got the job done! So can you guess what this weeks challenge over at Polka Doodles is? Yep it's Fairies, Flitter & Fantasy. I do hope that you'll come and play with us, remember you don't need to use a Polka Doodles image, but we'd love it you did! Also you could win yourself some new stash.

This is what I've come up with this week - it's a stepper card with masses of cut out images (I sooo need to treat myself to a Craft Robo, there was way too much hand cutting involved in this card!)

I started out by printing out the fairy and foliage from the All Around & Everywhere CD and the watering can, window & door (which is the window with the shutters chopped off) from the new Studio 12 Picknix Heavenly Garden Kit. I then coloured the images with Promarkers. Because I needed masses of foliage and believe it or not I do have something that resembles a life outside of crafting, I cheated and scanned the coloured image in and then printed out several flipped and resized copies. I then set about the gargantuan task of cutting everything out :/

The images are assembled onto a simple stepper card base using glue and pop dots (yes I really needed to add more dimension to the piece!). I'm not sure that my pictures show the Stickles on the wings or the Glossy Accents on the glass window - so you'll have to use your imagination.

Right that's me done for this week, so thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic weekend. I'm off to the Craft Barn on Sunday and I'm hoping to catch up albeit it briefly with the lovely Nikky Hall. If you spot me there, come and say "Hi".

Delicious Doodles Challenge #10 Spots or Stripes

No you're not going mad - I'm posting a Delicious Doodles Challenge two weeks in row! This week it would normally be team A's turn to play and post the challenge, but this week is slightly different in that we are all playing. The reason for the change is that this week we have a very special challenge which is being jointly sponsored by the lovely Paulette over at Create with TLC and Teri from Delicious Doodles. So this week there will be two prizes up for grabs.

I chose the fantastic "Wishes" set which I have to say is simply stunning and will I'm sure be appearing on a few more of my projects. The theme this week is Spots or Stripes. I've used the brand new image from Delicious Doodles "Mushroom Fairy" and taken the spots on the mushroom and the very feint stripes on the DP's to fit the theme. I hope you like my card.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Crafty Cardmakers - Floral

Magical Mondays - Flowers
The Crafty Pad - Girly

Silhouette Fairy Easel

It's my niece's birthday in a couple of weeks and she's still secretly mad about fairies. She'll be 14, and worries that her friends will tease her, so keeps her obsession a deep dark secret. I'm hoping that this card will convince her that fairies are for big girls too!!

The easel card was cut using my new Nestie's Labels 8. I then used Distress Inks to make the background and used the digital masking technique to place the digital stamp (kindly given to me by Stitchy Bear Stamps, available here) onto the card. I've added some dimensional glitter glue the tips of the fairy's wings. The leaves and flowers have been punched from black paper.

Big Shot
X-Cut Botanicals Ivy Punch

Epson Printer
