I have probably had this photo for years but didn't notice it until just the other day. I wish I'd found it before Mothers Day so I could have posted it then. But very soon it will be the anniversary of my mother's birthday so this is a good time to share. (I think that's me in the photo and, yes, our house number really was #13!)
My mom was a stay-at-home mom for us six children for many years but later in life she found great pleasure in becoming a presiding officer in some of the women's groups she joined. In church, she became our choir director. As a lovely soloist, she was often asked to sing for community and church events. Many people from my hometown in Upper Michigan remember hearing her voice in church on Sundays, weddings, and funerals. Her Ave Maria was enough to make the strongest person weep for joy!
Thinking of you Mom on this beautiful Sunday morning! Miss you...love you.

Hi Coralie,
ReplyDeleteYour mother is so beautiful! I love vintage pictures because everyone in a vintage picture seems so at peace with a less busy life and time. I love this post, and I love your new blog look!!!
Blessings,
Marilyn
Coralie, your mother is just lovely. How blessed to have had such a lovely mother and with a precious voice. Ave Maria is one of my favorite songs and I have it on my playlist on my blog, too.

I can tell how beautiful your mom was from that photo! And wonderful that she was blessed with the gift of singing!
ReplyDeleteCoralie, I love these vintage pictures ... I acquire all I can of family & then enjoy just looking & remembering ......
ReplyDeleteAve Maria is my all time favorite followed by the Lord's Prayer. I can hardly keep a dry eye when listening to either, occasionally this voice that was 'never meant to sing' takes a crack at joining in ....

What a lovely tribute to your mother. I'm glad you came to my party. Make sure you come back agin when the others have posted their parties. There are going to be a lot of them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post!! And that photo is absolutely beautiful! What a find!!
ReplyDeleteThat was such a lovely and endearing post. Made me think of my own Mom who just passed away...actually she passed away four years ago but I always make the mistake of telling people she just passed away because that's how I feel. I still remember her all the time as if she's just here yesterday and she's also a stay-at-home Mom like yours.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tribute to your Mother. I just love the old photos!
