Surt is the main antagonist from the first book of the Book series Magnus Chase and the gods of Asgard: The Sword of Summer, and a minor character in the next books. He is also the main antagonist in the short story I Play with Fire. He is the ruler of Muspelheim, and the king of fire giants, his only goal is to start the Ragnarok, a cataclysmic event when he will wreak havoc across the nine worlds.
Personality[]
Surt is a ruthless, cruel and diabolical individual, he doesn't think twice before killing anyone who opposes to him, he even threatened to kill a group of innocent people (some of them were little children) if Magnus didn't gave Sumarbrander to him. His only goal is to cause and spread destruction across the nine worlds, burning everyone and everything in his path.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Prowess in Battle: Surt is an extremely formidable master at combat, he held his own against three highly trained valkyries, and is destined to command the armies of giants during Ragnarok.
- Pyrokinesis: As the ruler of the Fire Giants of Muspellheim, Surt can generate vast amounts of heat and fire at will. He is destined to unleash his full power at the very end of Ragnarök, burning the Nine Worlds with his flames.
- Enhanced Strength: As a Fire Giant, Surt has considerable superhuman strength, being able to back-hand both Hearthstone and Blitzen with ease, and punch Magnus hard enough to make the latter vomit and temporarily loose consciousness.
