~ Sonic to Metal Sonic |
Metal Sonic is a minor antagonist in the 2024 film Sonic the Hedgehog 3, the third main installment of the Sonic Cinematic Universe.
He is a mysterious, robotic replica that briefly ambushed Sonic with his army, until he was stopped by Amy Rose.
Appearance[]
Metal Sonic mostly resembles his modern day counterpart but thinner and more detailed as well as being able to convert his right arm into a blaster.
Biography[]
Metal Sonic first appears after Sonic accidentally winds up in New York during a race against Tails and Knuckles. With his back turned, Metal readies his arm canon and fires, though Sonic, as expected, is quickly able to dodge it with his speed, which he proceeds to mock the robotic duplicate over before striking him.
As Sonic prepares to clash with him, clones of the Metal Sonic suddenly appear as well and surround him. Just as they pounce on him all at once, they are quickly stopped by a pink hedgehog wielding a large hammer, who proceeds to destroy all of them. Afterward, the pink hedgehog takes off her hood, and she is revealed to be Amy Rose.
Trivia[]
- When Sonic insults Metal's appearance by saying that he "got a few details wrong", his irises notably sharpen in offense, implying that this version of the robot also wishes to be the superior version of Sonic like his game counterpart.
- Unlike most iterations of the character, this version of Metal Sonic doesn't appear to be a creation of Dr. Ivo Robotnik, on account of his assumed demise in the third film.
- Concept art for the film's post-credits scene show what appears to be a bad future version of Robotnik, who rules over Earth and is the apparent creator of this Metal Sonic.
- Metal Sonic leading an army of clones of himself might be a reference to Emperor Metallix and his Brotherhood of Metallix from Fleetway Editions' Sonic the Comic series.
