Joey: Lazar!
Kristof: I've gone by many names over the countless years. I can smell your blood, I could taste it.
Abigail: Father don't. You don’t understand. Please stop… She saved my life!
Kristof: ABIGAIL!!!
Abigail: She was here when you weren’t.
Kristoff: I came when you needed me. I’m here now. I think you should leave, it’s getting awfully close to dinner time.
~ Kristof introduction upon arriving to the mansion.

Kristof Lazar is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Lambert) of the 2024 vampire horror comedy film Abigail.

He is a vampiric crime lord and also Abigail's father. He uses his daughter to kill those who have wronged him.

He was portrayed by Matthew Goode, who also played Ozymandias in Watchmen, Charlie Stoker in Stoker, and Dr. Francis Jensen in Self/less.

Biography[]

Joey: What happened? Hey, you can’t just leave without telling us what's going on?
Frank: What's going on? What’s going on is that we are f-cked. That little girl is Kristof Lazar's daughter.
Rickles: Sh-t!
Sammy: Who's Kristof Lazar?
Frank: Who's Lazar?
Dean: Bro, that’s an urban legend man, calm down.
Frank: No dude. He's not a f-cking urban legend, he is very f-cking real believe me. Nobody even knows how big his f-cking empire is.
Sammy: So he's like a crime boss?
Rickles: He controls a lot more than just crime.
Joey: Is Lambert f-cking insane? He just put a death mark on all of us. Including himself.
Sammy: Why don't we just like, you know like give her back and say sorry?
Frank: Oh yeah! Here's your daughter Mr. F-cking Antichrist! We’re very sorry, hope she's not too traumatized! Let's play around the golf sometime!
~ The group informs each other of Abigail's father

His real name is unknown but according to him, he has gone by many names. He is centuries old and is extremely wealthy. Centuries before the events of the movie, he turned his 12-year-old daughter, Abigail (who was a mortal at the time) into a vampire. He hired her as his elite assassin but during some time they had a falling out causing them to be distant from one another with Abigail killing people to win her father's love.

Personality[]

He is shown to be a ruthless crime boss that is feared by many. He is also extremely wealthy and can smell blood inside a human. However, despite all this, he does have some honor like allowing Joey to leave when Abigail reveals Joey saved her life.

Lazar's relationship with Abigail is complicated; she claims that he was once very excited but then lost interest, and has since become his personal hitwoman. Everyone seems to agree that Lazar no longer loves his daughter, but he didn't hesitate to rush to the mansion to help Abigail when Lambert warned him that there was trouble, proving that he still cares for her.

Power and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Transcendent Vampire physiology: Lazar is an elder vampire likely a pure blood with many unique vampiric abilities being older than his daughter.
    • Immortality: As a vampire, Kristof implied that he has lived for countless centuries meaning he is the oldest immortal on earth.
    • Power granting: He has the ability to transform ordinary humans into his kind through the bite. It was told by Abigail that Lazar turned her himself when she was a twelve year old mortal now turned immortal.
    • Superhuman senses: His senses are heightened for he could smell Joey’s blood in her system as well as taste it without physically doing so.
    • Sharp fangs: Like all vampires, Lazar possesses sharpen teeth in his mouth as retractable fangs.

Abilities[]

  • Immense Wealth/Vast Resources: Having had countless years to build up his criminal empire thanks to his immortality, Lazar is a very wealthy man with loads of money and resources at his disposal; making him quite possibly the richest man on earth.
  • Intimidation: Known by his reputation, makes him the most dreadful man in the world as many who are aware of his empire fear any attempts to take advantage of his most precious possessions. He uses his daughter Abigail as his personal hitman known as "Valdez" for assassinating his top lieutenants with gruesome slaughter methods. Especially with his vampire traits further frighten anyone he encounters.

Trivia[]

  • While Kristof Lazar is clearly an alias he goes by, his true name is heavily implied to be Dracula. Evidence of him being as such would be that the movie's title was going to be called Dracula's Daughter, but was changed to Abigail. The symbol on the front gate also has a symbol of a dragon on it, which symbolizes the Order of the Dragon, a group which Dracula himself is said to have been involved. The iconic composition of Swan Lake is also heard throughout, which was the theme for 1931's Dracula starring Bela Lugosi.
