Klaus, better known as Heinrich Von Duffel, is the main antagonist of the Jonny Quest episode "The Devil's Tower".
Appearance[]
Klaus is a bald man who dresses in light brown military garb.
Biography[]
Heinrich Von Duffel is introduced ordering Dr. Quest and company to stop where they are, as they are his prisoners and to discard their weapons which they really do not have on them. When Dr. Quest tries to provide introductions, Heinrich stops him right there as he has no interest for their names as they will only speak when asked and do as told.
Heinrich then threatens to shoot if they do not listen to his orders. He then orders them against the wall of the cave where Dr. Quest seemingly believes him to be a German officer which was until Dr. Quest's people overcame the Third Reich that Heinreich was a German officer.
Following this, Heinrich fled to the Devil's Escarpment, and lived there for a couple decades with cavemen led by Naktu, whom he orders to watch over the prisoners while he flees to civilization with diamonds he procured over the years.
He then orders the party to remain with Naktu and company, whom he called animals, until he returns via their airplane, refusing their help and threatens to kill them if they try to escape.
At this time, during Heinrich's absence, Dr. Quest explains to everyone that Heinrich was really an escaped Nazi war criminal named Klaus, having seen his picture while working with the Allied War Crimes Commission. Klaus was commandant in many concentration camps and escaped punishment for many years with no one being able to find him.
They then proceed to escape after knocking out Naktu with his own club. When they try to escape from the group via the passage Dr. Quest found, the cavemen pursue them to a steep slope. But they overcome it when they ride logs and dodge a boulder that was chasing them.
Outside the cave, Klaus spots them trying to escape and has boulders sent after them three times. When this fails, he brings along a box of grenades to the plane he stole from the heroes.
Once he spots them, he proceeds to terrorize them with grenades forcing the heroes to carefully cross a bridge to avoid getting killed. When the bridge gets blown up with Dr. Quest on it, Race struggles to bring him to safety while at risk of getting blasted.
When Klaus had one grenade left, he throws it, only for it to get caught in one of the wings which leads to it being destroyed, which leads to Klaus getting killed in a plane crash.
