Eiji Nochizawa, also known as Eiji and Nautilus, is the secondary antagonist of the movie Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale.
He was voiced by Yoshio Inoue in Japanese and Chris Patton (who also voiced Ayato Sakamaki in Diabolik Lovers, Greed in Fullmetal Alchemist, Tomoo in Elfen Lied, Turles in The Tree of Might, Lord Embryo from Cross Ange: Rondo of Angel and Dragon, Asura from Soul Eater and Yoshiuo Minamoto from My Bride is a Mermaid) in English.
Biography[]
Originally an SAO, player, Eiji took a very cautious approach to the game, after having heard of numerous people die in the game and thus dying for real. However, a defect in his NerveGear would cause his body to paralyze whenever he felt he was in danger, leaving him vulnerable to attack. In spite of this setback, he was able to level up fairly quickly and survive SAO by the time it was cleared. However, his fiance, Yuna Shigemura, died in SAO.
During the events of Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale, Eiji was Number 1 in the titular augmented reality RPG. Donning cybernetic armor, Eiji handily beat the other players but was ultimately defeated by Kirito during the climax of the film.
In the anime version of Sword Art Online: Alicization, Eiji redeems himself by fighting Vassago, buying the Japanese players time before Kirito reawakens and wipes out the remaining Chinese and Korean players that Vassago invited.
