The Crossed Thanatus is a minor antagonist in the light novel series Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious, as well as its manga and anime adaptations of the same name. It is an extremely powerful being that was summoned by Kilkapul in order to kill Seiya and his party.

Description[]

It appears as a figure in a white cloak. Its face possesses a small mouth and a big gaping empty eye socket. Underneath its cloak seems to be a large purple tentacle. It's arms are thin and wrapped up. It carries a giant cross-like weapon, which has a mouth and emanates blue flames.

Personality[]

It doesn't seem to have any emotions and is solely bent on carrying out its task of killing its target. It stays calm and quiet, but equally cold and relentless. Its abilities are so inconceivable that its stats are scrambled by default.

Biography[]

After Kilkapul sacrificed the lives of everyone in his village, including the lives of himself and his own family, the Crossed Thanatus appeared. After they analysed its stats, Seiya and Ristarte were both shocked by its immense power. It rams its staff into the ground, causing the ground around it to break apart. Seiya attacks with a Double Wind Blade and cuts it in half, but it quickly reforms and splits into two. Seiya then cast Maximum Inferno, engulfing it in flames, buying the group enough time to escape to the Divine Realm.

However, they wouldn't be safe even there, as the Crossed Thanatus was powerful enough to break through dimensions and follow them into the Divine Realm. Many gods tried attacking it, but none were able to inflict any harm upon it, all of them being immediately knocked out. Seiya realizes that the only god who could be capable of defeating it is Valkyrie, the Goddess of Destruction. After luring the Crossed Thanatus to Valkyrie, he dodges out of the way of one of its attacks, intentionally having it destroy the canvas Valkyrie was painting on. Deeply enraged, she began attacking it, first using her abilities "First Valkyrja: Shattered Break" and "Fourth Valkyrja: Astral Break", though neither end up causing any harm to it. Then realizing she must go all out, she unleashes her full power, using the causality-bending ability "Omega Valkyrja: Gate of Valhalla" to finally put an end to the Crossed Thanatus.
