“ | The ideals that the World Alliance held so highly. They were all just an unforgiveable deception. All those who are angry, gather under ANGIL's banner, for it is time for a new world order! | „ |
~ ANGIL declaring their intentions. |
Alliance of Nations for Greater Independence and Liberty, better known as ANGIL, are an organization serving as the main antagonists of the video game Sidewinder V, known as Lethal Skies II in the West. They are an alliance formed by nations who detested the World Alliance for neglecting them in favor of North America. In their quest to topple the World Alliance and Frontier Nations, ANGIL was assisted by WORF remnants.
History[]
Past[]
After the FN-WORF conflict ended, hostility between nations didn't go away, but rather deepened. Efforts to restructure the post-war world continued for the next three years. Mainstream countries, with North America as their base, planned to rebuild their power structure, leaving European nations worried that, with their dominance gone, their future was in jeopardy. They were contacted by the surviving elements of WORF, forming a new alliance, ANGIL, capable of rivaling the power of Frontier Nations.
Lethal Skies II[]
ANGIL made their existence public by launching an attack on Frontier Nations' base in Newfoundland on June 19, 20XX. The North American 12th Air Squad intercepted the alliance's bombers. Taking advantage of the breach in defense, ANGIL forces continue their attacks, marking the start of the "300-Day War" on June 21.
After the declaration, several World Alliance nations expressed their intention to join the new alliance, with some succeeding in doing so.
After a long war, ANGIL was defeated during the battle over the NY megafloat, which they attempted to destroy with a flying fortress stolen from Frontier Nations, in no small part thanks to the efforts of Team SW.
