My Husband "Subvet" says that when our first son "Sonshine" was born the sun rose on our world, when our second son "Gator" was born the sun laughed and when our daughter "Sugars" was born all the flowers bloomed. That says it all.

Rules:
First, I have to list 10 things that make me happy. Then I get to pass the goodness and the award to other bloggers who make me happy.

Let's try that again...

Awards

Awards mean a lot to me to receive. I mean, everyone wants to be liked right? But they are so very hard to pass on. Because no one wants to be left out. So, if I have left a comment on your blog in the last week, consider youself awarded whichever of these awards you think best describes you...but you have to tell me which one you picked!!

The Lemonade Award is a special one.......making Lemonade when life hands you lemons. aka The Attitude of Gratitude Award. Now I know I remember seeing that SOMEONE had bestowed this lovely upon me.....but I can not for the life of me remember who. So, if YOU were the nice person who gave me this lemonade stand, please speak up so I can thank you personally.

Thanks to Mrs 4444 for this award!

The qualifications to receive the award are:

A. Display a cheerful attitude.
B. Love one another.
C. Make mistakes.
D. Learn from others.
E. Be a positive contributor to the blog world.
F. Love life.
G. Love kids.

The Rules:--I'm breaking all the rules so I don't expect you to follow them either!

Thanks so much! What this award embodies is a lot of why I started blogging in the first place!!

and thanks to Diane for this award....it's only getting done now cuz there was a MEME attached and I OD'd on meme's for 2008 already :-)

You must be a true Christmas lover to receive this award.
The person to whom you give the award must also be in love with Christmas.

Here are the rules for the Christmas award.~~~~~
Again, I'm eschewing all rules....if you don't know by now all the reasons why I love Christmas you need to go back and reread all the posts from last December!!

Stephanie at Scraps gave me this lovely award:
"Marie Antoinette Keeping it Real Award".

This award is for someone who blogs, honestly, 'warts and all'.

Mighty Mom of My Wonderful Life is a lot like my sister-in-law: in her head, out her mouth. She's nutty, dedicated, a long-suffering mom, and posts heroes on her blog every Wednesday. AND she packs a mean Thesaurus.

OKay, it took me awhile to "own" that in head out mouth comment....but I'll roll with it. Nor do I feel terribly "long suffering"....really, I don't. But I do tend to put up my life as is, from my perspective so thanks Steph!! :-)

Lisa was nice enough to give me this award

“These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.”

again, rules...smules. but it was very nice of her to think of me as charming! This blog and the folks who read it are my largest support network. The friendships made here are very important to me and I am grateful for each of you who comment here.

Now, I get about 5 comments per post on average....yet have about 25ish hits per day that I've posted. Either each of you are coming back to my blog FIVE TIMES before leaving a comment...or there are some lurkers out there who never say HI.

Come on now...just a little hello would do ~~ don't be shy, I don't bite....usually........

award and meme and meme.......

Linda at Are we there yet? gave me this beautiful award awhile back...
it comes with a catch. It's an award and meme rolled into one. Before I pass it on I must list Six Things that Make me Happy.

So here you go:
1) hooligan snuggles
2) hooliganette snuggles
3) hubby snuggles
4) kitty snuggles
5) a warm snuggly bed
6) my snuggly flannel nightgown.

Next I'm to pass this on to 6 others.
Pam at Midnight Musings
SherryTex at Chocolate for your Brain
Stephanie at Scraps
Heidi at Mommy Monsters
Bumblevee at Barrister Bookcase
Jacquie at Tallgrass Prairie Studio

Then Jen at Live and in color tagged me with a Six Favorite Things meme.
It's the same as the one above...only different. :-) (Subvetism #451)

1) Finishing a project.
2) Being awake and energetic enough to enjoy taking the kids out to play
3) Long talks with my best friend ~~ that would be Subvet if you're wondering
4) Having someone smile at my silliness
5) Driving home from work with the feeling that I really touched someone that night.
6) Advent/Christmas....for details on this one check back on Sunday!

Now, Since I just tagged 6 people and went through the trouble to get all those linkyloos done AND I have strep...you'll just have to forgive me not tagging anyone else with this one.

But I will issue an open invitation...if you're feeling blue or cranky...take the time to do this meme, at least in your head. Because NOTHING kills off those icky feelings like stopping and taking note of the wonderful things in your life. Can't think of a single wonderful thing? Let me know and we'll search together for them.

Gee, Thanks

This came to me from Pinky

This lovely statue is called the "Arte y Pico" award which was created to be given to bloggers who inspire others with their creative energy and talents no matter whether it be in the form of writing, artwork, design, interesting material, or contributions to the blogger community. When a blogger receives this award it is considered a "special honor" and, once presented to you, it is to be passed on to at least 5 other bloggers who meet the criteria.

Well, there's a surprise!

I don't feel like I have any creative energy here lately but if you say so, I'll believe you! :-)

I'll have to ponder on who to give it too, when I have more time...HAHAHAHA

YeeHaw!

Linda at Are We There Yet? Seems to think I make her day! Here's what she said: "Mighty Mom at My Wonderful Life because there's another talented woman who juggles home, work, and her blog with a sense of humor and adventure."

Now, that's just cool. Thanks Linda!

Wow, now comes the hard part....who makes my day?? Well, every time I see a comment it makes my day. Everytime I get a new red dot on my map over yonder it makes my day. My kids make my day. My hubby makes my day, especially when he says things like "Go To Bed, Now! You're sounding fried. It's your day off, go sleep as long as you want, I won't wake you up and will keep the noise level down to a dull roar." As he did when I got home from church with all 3 hooligans/hooliganette today. So, I going to give this award to my hubby, Subvet. He has a great blog, Blowin San #1 but hasn't posted much here lately....maybe we can convince him that he's missed and needs to get back to posting instead of just lurking :-) Please go and weigh in on his latest post...it's a killer one!

Award....

"My Wonderful Life, MightyMom shares practical sewing tips, hosts Thesaurus Thursday, and tells us what her three babes are up to. She's wicked smart, too."

That is what my dear friend Pinky said about me. I've never been called wicked smart before and it just tickles me all the way down to my toes!!

So, while Pinky is tickling my toes, here's the scoop on the Daily Dose Award.

"Xandra started the Daily Dose to celebrate sticking to blogging. As she says,
I’m calling it The Daily Dose award, and it goes to the blogs that I must read every day without fail. Seriously, I might as well mainline new posts…it’s that addictive. I feel acute disappointment when I go to my favorite blogs and find old posts (no pressure here, girls!).
So here’s to all the blogs that you’ve discovered that you can’t possibly live without. They make you laugh, cry, think and feel connected every time you read a post. They give you a thrill as you see them loading into your browser and you get an equally satisfying thrill when you see that they have commented on your blog."

Well, every time I see that anyone has commented on my blog I am thrilled! I love comments! I really love my commentors!! I try to make a point and go by the blog of every person who's commented on my post. It isn't always easy but I really do try.

So far as blogs I read daily...I go down my blogroll almost every day and I love it when there's a new post to read (or in some cases 3 or 4...Linda....Subvet.....)

So, if your name's on this list then I give you this lovely award! And Thank you for making me spend way too much time on the computer! ;-)

Ain't I sweet??

Linda over at Are We There Yet? must just really like me or something!

She gave me this cuteee award/treat today.

It originated with Hootin' Anni who is a real Texas hoot! She's got some super cool posts up of Halloween nature and spooky places to visit.

Now, I have NO IDEA what a candlied apple is....look close at that word folks.

However, I'm gonna assume it's just as yummy as all the candied apples I've eaten over the last 32-ish years.

So, thanks so much Linda, you're terrrific! As with the Christmas Spirit Award I'll pass this one on a little later....it's so hard to pick cuz I love each of my regular commenters loads!!

I am going to add a little supplementary explanation on the Thesaurus Thursday posts.

If you already know or think you know the real definitions then please leave your guesses in the comments...but for the sake of the game, don't look up the answers then leave em...I'll post the real definitions on Saturday for all to see and save you the trouble!

Thanks
MightyMom

The Spirit of Christmas Award

According to Santa, the Spirit of Christmas Award:

"Quite simply it is those that have a generous and giving nature. Those who care about others. Those who have a kind word to say or a broad shoulder to lean on in the times that others need that. Those who display the "Spirit of Christmas".
To that end, I am passing this lovely little award on to Mighty Mom from Texas who has a wonderful blog that shows off her giving nature.

OK, I read it three times and it really does say Mighty Mom there, and that really is my name so I guess Linda was really talking about me. Although I have to say that is really really hard to believe.

Especially after the last few days when I've been anything but generous. But PMS hits the best of us huh?

;-)

I will pass this lovely piece of code along...but you'll have to wait till next week, I'm just too fried to do it right now.

Thank you Linda, you're a very wonderful gal.

by the way folks. Stop and say a prayer for Linda for me please, she's having a few health issues and undergoing some testing that is going to strain the pocketbook.

Might put in a prayer for myself while you're at it...my mother in law's move will be a stressful transition for our family.

Thanks.

Sarah.

I got an award!

From Heather K at The Zoo

~Mighty Mom...she makes me smile because of her incredible patience and good attitudes with her little sweetie pies that love to mattress surf, curtain climb...etc! She keeps me entertained with these tales of adventure!

I have to say that this award means more to me than any other one out there. It means I'm doing something right.

When I started this blog I realized that I had a choice, I could either gripe all the time, or I could intentionally NOT gripe at all. I mean, we all have stuff we can gripe about. But does the world in general and my life in particular need more griping??

NOPE!

What I need is an attitude adjustment. A regular daily attitude adjustment.

It's all about perspective and how you choose to look at things.

So I started this blog for me. And I decided that I would ONLY post things in my life viewed from an entertaining/uplifing/inspirational and sometimes downright funny perspective. Which of course means that I have to FIND that perspective first!

Truth be told, I crack myself up. My kids crack me up. My husband really cracks me up.

And I am thrilled to hear that we crack you up too! Thank you Heather from the bottom of my funny bone for this very meaningful award.
Laughter is the world's best medicine. Well, right after Chocolate (which we all know cures everything)!

So, now to pass this award on to my fellow bloggers who've help spread a bit of that wonderful medicine to me.

In honor of 100

HA, well, it sounded like a good title...it's actually Post 101. Can't believe I've written that much.

When Subvet got me all set up here on blogger I told him I felt like I had a lot to say...and no one to say it to. Guess this is proof!

I'm very thankful that each of you come by here and read my silly musings. I consider you dear friends. So, I thought I'd go down my list and tell the #1 thing that I like about each of my regular commenters. If you're a new regular commenter I will get to know you better before I pick just 1 thing! "Come in! and know me better, man!" (can you place that quote? here's a hint, it's from a book that I start reading every December.)

Linda, at Are We There Yet? - I love the way she totally supports her teenage daughters!

Glen at Ballseye's Boomers - I love the shooting tips.

BWH at Big White Hat - I love how he supports all parents of children with PDD.

Diane at Diane's Place - I love how she's working her hiney off to take care of her granddaughter.

DaD at Infantry Dad - I love how he goes out of his way to support military families.

Mirre at Kiss Kus - I love how she shares bits of life in The Netherlands.

Kitty at Kitty's Korner - I love her sincerity in every post and comment.

No Apology at No Apology - I love all the research and time he puts into each post.

Pea at Pea's Corner - I love her Fairy Garden.

Jennifer at PenofJen, McBenning School, LotsforLess, JeLi deSigns, and The New Me - I love that she keeps saying I'm funny!

Susan at Penless Writer - I love that she's an (unintentional) online preacher!

Stephanie at Scraps - I love how smart she is! She's known the most T-T words to date AND named Sonshine's baby quilt pattern!!

Chief at Smoldering Embers In A Mohawk Campfire - I love that I always laugh out loud reading his site!

Subvet at Blowing San #1 - "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways! One Onethousand, Two Onethousand......" (that one's a movie) I love our life together! Blog-wise, I love that he stays on top of all the political "stuff" and is still able to keep his sense of humor, something I can't do.

Cookie at The Cook Shack - I love his motto, "Never trust a skinny cook."

Ellen at The Happy Wonderer - I love that she frequently breaks out into song and will post entire song lyrics, I also enjoy the glimpses into her Russian heritage.

Heather at The Zoo - I love that she recently had all the girl cousins in her family over for an enormous sleep-over...and she survived!!

Eren at This Vintage Chica - I love that she works hard at raising her 3 little boys.

OK, now, I thought that just for fun I'd have a little pop-quiz. (Don't worry, it's open blog.) There are 4 rooms in my house that are painted different colors, other than white. Can you name the colors? I'll email every correct entry a copy of my favorite punch recipe. If you can also match the correct color to the correct room you'll get a copy of my late aunt's Fantastic Crawfish Etouffee' recipe thrown in!

Happy Searching!!

Tuesday, August 7, 2007

it's here! it's here!

Well, it came today! Susan at Penless Writer had a raffle for her 6 month blogoversary and I WON!

Thank you so much Susan! This is very special to me!

Winner

Well, if I could think of what to say, I'd say it.

All I can say is thank you very much Susan. It's very kind and generous and unexpected.
A sunny moment in a gloomy week.

Awards

PenofJen was nice enough to award me this little award a couple of weeks ago. It's my first ever, and may just be my last. See, I've been fighting with my conscience ever since she gave it to me. Here's my dilemma. All the "girl" bloggers who I would award it to have already gotten it, some of them many times. So it seems to me like the award is just making the same rounds thereby making it obsolete. However, there are 6 "guy" bloggers that I think rock big time who (of course) haven't been given this award as of yet. So, blame the headache medicine but I'm going to BREAK THE RULES.

First I must gratefully and (somewhat) graciously accept the award as given. Y'all need to go check out Pen of Jen as she is one cool lady. And yes, I must say I DO rock. Twice a day, every day; once before nap time and once before bedtime. Usually with 2 little boys in my lap ;-)

Now, for the 6 that I am going to name as Rockin' Girl Award Winners.

1) Blowin' San #1, written by Subvet. He's rocked my world ever since December of 1998. He writes a great blog mostly about political absurdities with some comedy thrown in. Always entertaining.

2) Infantry Dad. He's got a son in Iraq and shares funnies and frustration alike while supporting not only his son, but anyone else with family members overseas who stops by. His blog is fun to read and often there is more going on in the comments than the actual posts. He definitely rocks.

3) The Chief over at Smoldering Embers in a Mohawk Campfire. I've no idea why he gave his blog such a long name but he's one very funny guy. An ex-Marine who takes great wildlife pictures, especially of birds pooping on rear view mirrors. Some of his stuff is 'R' rated so take off your goody too shoes before you go over there. He is one rocking blogger.

4) Cookie at The Cook Shack. Now, Cookie and the Chief keep stealin stuff from each other so sometimes you get a double laugh if you visit both. Cookie not only keeps me laughing but he will also put up some delicious recipes. He's an ex-Sub Sailor and he usually gives a warning before the 'R' rated stuff comes up. I've always loved his motto "Never trust a skinny cook." He rocks, as a matter of fact, he can probably cook rocks and have em taste good.

5) No Apology. This guy writes a lot. Most of it has to do with either current politics or homeschooling. His posts are always informative and thought provoking. I enjoy visiting him when I want a good non-fiction read. He rocks too.

6) Big White Hat. This is one of the good guys. He writes many inspirational posts along with some short stories. It's great to read about his kids and the encouraging way he deals with the trials of parenthood. Another thought provoking rockin blogger.

So there you have it. I've broken the one and only rule attached to the Rockin Girl Blogger Award. Go ahead and take away my birthday...I've had enough anyway. But be sure to visit these guys, they are very good bloggers!
