Kateri Tekakwitha
Kateri Tekakwitha (kwa lugha yake ya Kimohawk jina linatamkwa ˈgaderi degaˈgwita) aliishi tangu mwaka 1656 hadi 17 Aprili 1680; alizaliwa Ossernenon, leo Auriesville, New York, Marekani, akafariki Kahnawake, Quebec Canada[1].
Mtoto wa familia ya wakazi asili wa Amerika Kaskazini, anajulikana hasa kwa imani na maadili yake ya Kikristo, dini aliyojiunga nayo kwa kubatizwa na padri wa Kanisa Katoliki[2][3] kwenye Pasaka ya mwaka 1676, akaendelea nayo bila kujali vitisho na upinzani wa ndugu zake, akishika pia usafi wa moyo aliokuwa amenuia kuutunza tangu kabla ya kuwa Mkristo.
Alitangazwa na Papa Yohane Paulo II kuwa mwenye heri tarehe 22 Juni 1980, halafu Papa Benedikto XVI akamtangaza mtakatifu tarehe 21 Oktoba 2012. Ni wa kwanza kutoka makabila ya Waindio.
Anaheshimiwa kama mtakatifu bikira, hasa tarehe ya kifo chake[4].
