Cherish

the sweet and precious memories that we hold in our minds.  Life's sweet moments from our past, in our memories always last.  (taken from an unmounted stamp but I don't know the origin).  I needed another sympathy card.  Within the last month the house at the end of the street lost a father and a step-father and now the next house towards ours has lost a mother.  All 3 were older and had considerable health issues but it doesn't soften the loss that you feel when losing a loved one.

Bazzill colored cardstock, unknown white cardstock

Worn Lipstick distress ink

Stampers Anonymous 'Stamptember Holiday' (2016 exclusive to Simon Says Stamp)

Sizzix thinlits dies 'Wildflowers' and 'Handwritten Love'

Fiskars corner rounder

I saw this idea on Pinterest and thought it would make a lovely sympathy card.  You'll need to scroll down a ways to see the inspiration card.  The other ideas are simple but equally elegant in their own right.

In search the world over

I used Watermark Ink on the Traveler stencil; heat set.  From distress watercolor cardstock I cut the Sizzix globe die.  After scribbling the markers on my non-stick craft sheet I picked up the colors with a waterbrush and kept layering (light to dark) until I was happy, heat setting between each color.

The Fiskars hand held heart punch created the tiny heart in the approximate space where we live (east central Illinois).  I stamped my sentiment using the Hero Arts alphabet stamps and JBAI on white cardstock.  The words were cut out and one of the above named blue distress markers was used to draw around the word boxes.

Silver distress paint was applied several times over the gray cardstock scrap to achieve a metal look; Hickory Smoke distress marker was run along the underside of the plane for shadow.  The rest of the sentiment was stamped on more white card stock then cut out and edged as above.  I folded over the one end and ran a snippet of gray embroidery floss to create a banner being flown across the sky.

My hubby and I used to travel a great deal but can no longer do so because of his health.  I hope this brings a smile to his face and some memories of our days abroad.  Happy Valentine's Day!

Baby cards and more

As I mentioned in my last post I had some baby cards to make.  Then the good news came that my niece got a job teaching art part-time at our local high school.  And I heard a long-distance friend needed a bit of paper cheer.

Now I have the weekend to play in my art space...and it's the perfect weather for it...upper 90s and above for at least the next week.  Whew!

It's a boy!

No, NOT for me!!!  Gasp!  That's all I need at my age!  lol  Nope, my baby bro is turning 50 in April so I'm creating a scrapbook (8"x8") for him.  It will be a complete surprise and some of the pics he may wish I didn't share but they are so darned cute.  Oh, we'll see.  Anyway, on with the share.

Stripes are the 'in' thing over on the Simon Says Stamp & Show blog this week.  Seems like this just played into my hands.  I already had the paper in mind for the scrapbook so not only am I able to enter it for the challenge I get 2 pages done.  Woohoo!

Don't know the manufacturer of any of the paper but the stamp set is Soft & Sweet by Stampin' Up, the hand & foot prints are Stampcraft, the oval dies are Spellbinders, the block, lettering and photo corners are Sizzix and the green edging is a Fiskars border punch.

Wonder how many other challenges I'll be able to use by the end of March to complete the album????
