Description

"Charge ahead in a forward-leaning stance. Other moves can be executed out of Avenger by pressing a button during its animation."
—Description for Avenger, Street Fighter 6
LukeAvenger

Executed by performing a quarter-circle forward motion and pressing kick. Luke rushes forward with a wide stance. By pressing punch during the dash, Luke performs No Chaser (ノーチェイサー Nō Cheisā?), a rushing shoulder tackle. By pressing kick, Luke performs the Impaler (インパラー Inparā?), a jumping overhead heel kick.

Tactics

Avenger moves Luke forward to close the distance. He can cancel the dash into most of his normals. It can also be linked from a variety of special moves that puts the opponent in a juggle state such as a fully charged or EX Flash Knuckle. Luke can travel almost 3/4 of the screen with Avenger. After the 14th frame of the startup, Luke can perform with his shoulder tackle or overhead kick. Performing EX Avenger gives Luke one-hit of armor. This is a good way to plow through projectiles or unsuspecting opponents while closing the distance for a counterattack.

LukeNoChaser
"A powerful tackle that can be executed during Avenger. This attack is active for a while, making it a useful tool for closing in on your opponent."
—Description for No Chaser, Street Fighter 6

Pressing any punch button during the dash has Luke deliver a shoulder tackle. The attack itself has decent range and a faster startup than his kick follow-up move. It is also -4 on block. If used a max range, No Chaser can be difficult for the opponent to punish Luke due to the move's pushback. It also results in a knockdown. He can be up to +10 by dashing forward as the opponent is recovering, giving him good okizeme. EX No Chaser inflicts more damage and has a faster startup than the regular version. After launching the opponent with EX Flash Knuckle, he can perform EX No Chaser for optimal damage while still getting okizeme. Additionally, No Chaser can be cancelled into Luke's Critical Art.

LukeImpaler
"An overhead kick that can be executed during Avenger and cannot be blocked while crouching. Useful for when trying to sneak through an opponent's guard, or as part of a combo."
—Description for Impaler, Street Fighter 6

Pressing any kick button during the rush has Luke deliver an flipping wheel kick; similar to Abigail's Avalanche Press. While it has a slightly longer startup than No Chaser, it is one of Luke's overhead attacks. He can catch his opponent off-guard with this move. It also has a longer range than No Chaser. Unfortunately, it is -12 on block, making it the most punishable follow-up option.

In Street Fighter 6, the move is altered somewhat. Impaler is much safer, being -8 on block at worst, going up to -1 with proper spacing. However, while EX Avenger's armor allows Luke a surprise option at a distance, follow ups from Impaler and No Chaser if done raw are immediately scaled to 50%, making it more built for starting momentum rather than dealing damage.

Trivia

  • Avenger takes its name from the English release of Hissatsu Buraiken, a top-down beat em up also known as both Avengers and Avenger. The game itself was rereleased under its Japanese name for Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium, likely to avoid copyright issues with the Marvel superhero team of the same name.
