Launches sparks or spits oil slicks.

— Description, Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia

The Takoko[1] (タココ[2]?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, octopus-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance[]

The Takoko is based on octopuses. They have two glaring eyes, a spike on the top of their head, a red body, and four tentacles. However, they also ride on a strange machine built in the likeness of Dr. Eggman. This machine is grey, has a pointy nose, and two spikes on the sides. The machine's eyes also constantly flash between red, blue, green, and yellow.

Overview[]

In Sonic Labyrinth, the Takokos are enemies that exclusively appear in Labyrinth of the Sea 2-3. In gameplay, they are indestructible Badniks that will drop oil slicks to make the player slide out of control. After doing so, they will fire sparks from the spike on their heads in eight directions. Strangely enough, these sparks do not go diagonally upwards, or straight upwards. Because they cannot be destroyed, the only option is to avoid them.

Powers and abilities[]

The Takokos can fire sparks and drop oil slicks with the machine they stand on, making it dangerous. This machine is also sturdy and can resist any attack, making the Takokos nigh indestructible.

Trivia[]

  • The Takoko's name is derived from tako, meaning "octopus" in Japanese.
