"TailsTube #5 (Remember When?)" is the fifth episode of the online web series TailsTube. It first aired on October 10, 2023, on the Sonic the Hedgehog series' official social media channels.

Plot[]

The episode starts with Tails welcoming everyone back to another edition of TailsTube, while his screen raises in the background and Sonic the Hedgehog, Amy Rose, and Knuckles the Echidna all join him. Amy and Sonic both express their surprise of everyone getting together, Sonic being surprised that Knuckles left Angel Island, in which Knuckles replies he only came to return Tails 'gizmo' from a previous episode. The gang asks why Tails had gathered them all together, in which he tells them he had been feeling nostalgic following their time on the Starfall Islands, and that he created a new segment called "Remember When?" Sonic immediately expresses interest in the segment saying he would be opposed to 'a leisurely stroll down memory lane' which Knuckles laughs at. Tails then begins the segment by remembering all the adventures and people of their early days, like Mighty the Armadillo. Sonic comments that he hadn't seen Mighty in forever, and Amy replies saying the two were actually very similar, both travelling the world and looking for new adventures. Knuckles adds how he remembers Mighty helping out him and the Chaotix in the past as well, commenting on his reliability. Amy agrees, thinking it's sweet that Mighty stays such a kindhearted person without letting his speed and strength get to his head. Knuckles then laughs and says Mighty's basically a better version of Sonic, due to being able to spin-dash as well as power through other obstacles with his unbreakable shell. Sonic retorts to this, asking if that meant Mighty was stronger than himself as well, causing Knuckles to ask Tails to move on.

Tails goes on to mention that you just can't bring up Mighty without talking about his best friend, Ray the Flying Squirrel! Amy goes on to say that Ray was just so happy and cheery, just like his name, with Sonic adding that Ray had come a long way since he and Mighty had met him. Tails mentioned that he loved hanging out with him as well, as both of them could fly with their tails, though Ray was a master at gliding. Knuckles once again comments that Ray is a better version of Tails, with Amy scolding him. Tails moves on, saying not everyone they've met has been friendly, like Fang the Hunter. Puzzled, Sonic asks if he meant Nack the Weasel, and Amy says she thought it was Fang the Sniper. Tails corrects them both, saying that those names were aliases that Fang made for himself to escape his life of crimes. Knuckles adds that Fang wasn't even a weasel, rather a 'wolfy thing', which Tails corrects as a jerboa. Knuckles goes on, saying he had never liked Fang, due to him willingly working with Eggman, making Sonic laugh and bring up the times he had done the same thing three times! Amy adds that she's glad that they haven't had to deal with him or his gang in a while, with Tails chiming in about how it's hard to keep in contact with all the people they know across the world. Finally, Sonic mentions that as nice as the nostalgia was, he'd rather focus on the present, and in the moment, he wanted lunch! Amy proposes a cookout, and everyone excitedly agrees. The gang starts to leave, and Tails says they'd just have to go back to reminiscing another time and leaves the screen. Offscreen, Sonic brings up how they were coming up on their anniversary of their adventure on the Northstar Islands. Amy also chimes in, offering to invite someone, but the video cuts out before she can mention who.

Trivia[]

• Unlike the first four episodes, this one did not come with a Japanese dub, nor do the TailsTubes episodes following after.
• This is the first time that Mighty, Ray, Fang and his gang have been directly acknowledged by the Modern characters, as well as the first time the events of Knuckles' Chaotix have been acknowledged by any character at all.
• Despite not being mentioned, it's very likely that the person Amy will invite for the anniversary of their adventure at the Northstar Islands is Trip the Sungazer, considering the events of the game, where Amy and Trip become close friends.
• The background design of Tails' Lab is based on its appearance from the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Lost World. Many additional Easter eggs can also be seen:
  • On top of a bookshelf in the lab is a potted plant, based on the one Tails plants from Cosmo's seed in the Sonic X episode "So Long Sonic". On the same bookshelf, the Rhythm Badge from Sonic Adventure and a bag of mint candy that Tails was seen buying in a Sonic PICT illustration for White Day 2020 can also be seen.
  • The Yellow Tail, Tails' signature Extreme Gear, can be seen next to the bookshelf, using its design from Sonic Free Riders.
  • An Emerald Detector can be seen on the desk, using its design from Sonic Runners.
  • An image of Sonic resembling Greg Martin's artwork can be seen underneath the text "HEY TAILS! SONIC WAS HERE" on the chalkboard.
• Sonic says Knuckles has been tricked by Eggman at least three times, but in reality, he was also tricked in Sonic Advance 2.
• Amy mentions knowing Mighty and Ray, but she is not apart of Sonic Mania, confirming the events of the Sonic the Hedgehog 30th Anniversary Special as that was their first-time meeting each other.
