Rouge's Landing

Rogue's Landing (青の空賊島[1] Ao no Kūzoku-tō?, lit. "Blue Sky Pirates' Island") is a track that appears in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, representing Skies of Arcadia. It is also the home course of Vyse.

Description[]

The setting for Rogue's Landing is at sunset, at an island haven where the Blue Rogues meet and trade. However, the Valuan Armada has arrived at the islands to attack the Blue Rogues, firing cannonballs at the track and destroying it in the process. The first lap has the Valuan Armada ships flying to the island, preparing to fire. The second lap has them firing at the town below them, destroying the surrounding buildings and even the track, with some ships being shot down in the process. By the time the racers reach the final lap, the Blue Rogues mobilize as they take on the Valuan Empire and as a result of the ferocious air battle, the entire track is in ruins, meaning the racers have to take to the skies for the remainder of the race. In this part, the racers weave through air mines littered throughout the course, while following the Delphinus, Vyse's ship.

Skies of Arcadia fans can expect to find ships and other features like the Delphinus, the Lynx, the Hydra, the Albatross, Rhaknam the arcwhale and Pirate Island. Moonstone showers can also be seen falling by the Silver Moon.

Overview[]

The race starts with the main road being followed for a while before a fork. Here, the player can take the left route to stay on the same path or the right route to get on a different path. Taking the left route will take the player uphill through a street-like area. By the end of this route, on the left is a hidden route with two tokens. Taking the right route will send the player somewhere different. This route is not as generous as the left route. By the end of this route is some boxes (similar to the ones in Carrier Zone) that show up as hazards. As soon as both routes reconvene, there will be a transformation gate into plane mode. Along the way, the player will encounter a tunnel. They can fly over it to find a super pickup with three drones. At the end of the tunnel is another transformation gate back into car mode, followed by some swings similar to the ones in Ocean View. At the end of the last one is a right turn, followed by a bridge, then a left turn. Alternatively, the player can skip the second couple of swings by taking a shortcut. The player can also take a hidden shortcut just before these swings begin. There will be a transformation gate into boat mode. Ahead of this, the player will be given the option to jump over or swim under the main track bridge. At the other side is a wide path similar to the one in Dragon Canyon, followed by one last transformation gate back into car mode. When both the main road and hidden shortcut reconvene, the finish line will await. The Valuan Empire causes chaos to the entire track every lap, decreasing the difficulty to fall off the track if the right route at the first fork in the road is taken during the second lap.

Trivia[]

  • Because of this level and Vyse, Skies of Arcadia is the only RPG series represented in the entire Sega Superstars/All-Stars series beyond minor references in achievement names.
