Cluck alert!

— Notification, Sonic Spinball (16-bit)

The Cluckbird, also called Cluck,[1] is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced Badnik model created by Dr. Robotnik.

Appearance[]

The Cluckbirds mostly resemble chickens. They have a white round torso with a smaller round white head on top of it, and possess a thin blue neck with a pointy collar around it. They have long red serrated beaks and a red comb on their head, and two eyes with black sclera and red pupils. On the sides of their torsos they have stubby wings with blue primaries, on the rear they have stubby tails, and below their torsos they have thick stubby thighs with red feet.

Overview[]

In the 16-bit version of Sonic Spinball, the Cluckbirds are a frequently encountered enemy, appearing in Toxic Caves, Lava Powerhouse, and The Machine. In the 8-bit version, they appear in Toxic Pools, Lava Powerhouse, and The Machine. In the steam area of Lava Powerhouse, the Cluckbirds also respawn endlessly from hatches on the walls, and in the battle with the Veg-O Machine, they will pop out from below the machine.

In both versions, Cluckbirds usually fly around in the middle of the pinball area, attempting to get in Sonic's way. Shooting Sonic as a curled up ball with the Flippers into a Cluckbird will destroy it and release the Animal inside of it. Also, destroying one Cluckbird will reward the player with 40,000 points in the 8-bit. While hitting a Cluckbird can be tricky, occasionally landing on them can provide a upward boost that can help the player get to their desired destination.

Powers and abilities[]

The Cluckbirds are capable of flight by utilizing their wings.
