Gypsy Bracelet

I absolutely adore this bright and shiny bracelet. Wearing it will brighten even the dullest day.  Gypsies are so colorful and this bracelet needed a colorful name. Hear the tambourines!  Uneven count peyote stitch in various sizes beads and shapes give you this very textured bracelet.
The original bracelet was designed for my students in my peyote master class group. But I used dull colors at the time. Must admit when I reworked the pattern in the brighter colors, it looked a lot nicer too
Pattern available at my Etsy store

The Isigubhu beaded bead is the ideal project to get rid of all those

project. You should have a working knowledge of Circular
Peyote Stitch.

create your pattern.

 photos to guide you
Eight pages to print.

Materials:
Seed beads 15 o, 11 o. 8 o

Isigubhu

  • The isigubhu is a Zulu drum. The isigubhu is made out of a used oil drum, wrapped with ox hide known as isikhumba. Before each performance, the drum is set out in the sun, which makes the ox hide tautly stretched. This produces a sharp, resonant sound. The drum is frequently used in  dancing, , accompanied with clapping blocks of wood and singing.

Muriel-Evelyn Bracelet

I made and named this bracelet for and after my Mother-in-law. Her birthday is on the 24th December and so she usually  gets a combined Christmas and birthday gift and that particular year I wanted to gift her something special. She loved it.  A geometric design with a feminine feel to it.
It was later published in The BeadBook magazine.  Now available at http://www.etsy.com/listing/169740515/peyote-stitch-bracelet-murial-evelyn?ref=shop_home_active

Busy Bee

This week was a very productive week, thanks to Hubby for cooking all the meals. I completed a new cross pattern that I for so long wanted to do and a new double sided pendant. Two beautiful designs that work up quick. The Karen Pendant ( named after my good friend Karen Hughes) is a double sided pendant and can double up as an eye catching Christmas ornament too! The Clementine Cross is now my flavor of the day - it is so beautiful and elegant, not too big and lightweight around my neck. I am wearing it all the time.
If all goes to plan, both patterns to be listed before Saturday.
I really tried to use beads and crystals that we all have in our bead stash. Both patterns use just a few grams of beads and you can easily get rid of those left over beads in both these projects.
Oh, yes the cross is double sided too.

The Spike

What a challenge to try and capture the true beauty of the 3D spikes around the bracelet. This is one of my all time favorite designs and something I'll personally will wear.

Neema - The popular one

Neema - "The popular one". Right angle weave play time resulted in the Neema design. Many years ago I was asked to do an article and supply a pattern to a very popular South African magazine. The editor wanted a right angle weave bracelet pattern and while working on the design we jokingly decided to call it " Right angle weave  for idiots" . It later became very popular but just before the magazine was send off to the printers we decided to rather change the description to " Easy right angle weave stitch for all". Neema is written in such a manner that even a technically challenged right angle beader will be able to successfully complete the design. The illustrations really gave me some headaches. But persistence prevail  and I achieved my goal.
I have always admired Sabine Lippert's ( Try to be better) designs and learnt the joys of right angle weave stitch with Marcia De Coster's books and patterns.  This weekend I teach another Master The Right Angle Weave class and in preparation I have come up with a few new patterns. The Neema will be available at My Etsy and Artfire before the weekend. The pattern will consist of a bracelet and pendant design.
