Tainen is a chubby man with black semi-long hair and a black chinstrap beard. He has scars running vertically from the edges of his mouth. He wears a light and dark purple striped shirt with a symbol resembling a flower with a face around his stomach. He also wears dark blue capri pants, black and white striped socks, brown shoes, brown gloves, a dark blue cape, and a dark purple bicorne hat with a golden rim and his Jolly Roger symbol.

Karehosui is Tainen's younger sister. She can be extremely selfish and tends to cause a lot of trouble for her older brother, but they still have a close relationship, as she was horror-struck when she saw him defeated.[4]

As the captain of a pirate crew, he has authority over his team and can give them orders. Independently, Tainen is relatively weak, as he was easily defeated by Capone Bege.[3]
While the royal family of Dressrosa was attending the Levely, Tainen and his crew targeted the country and infected people with the Kiss-Kiss Germ. However, their rampage was stopped by the Fire Tank Pirates, and Tainen was defeated by Bege.[3]
His name is likely a pun on the Japanese phrase sukaretai nen (好かれたいねん?, "I want to be liked"), which follows the Germ Pirates naming theme of desiring popularity and love.
