Sooga is a character in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. He is Master Kohga's right-hand man and a member of the Yiga Clan.
Personality[]
Sooga is a powerful, yet ruthless and ambitious warrior and is highly revered by the Yiga Clan. He resembles a Yiga Blademaster, but he carries two swords instead of one. He is very cunning and intelligent in the art of combat, and he doesn't care who faces him and will take the fight to them. He is the strategist of the Yiga Clan, evident when he had the Yiga Clan distract the Champions at Castle Town to lure them far away from Princess Zelda in order to make her an easy target for assassination, and upon learning that the Sheikah Slate is being used for the Sheikah Towers that could potentially give away the location of their hideout, he gives them a hard time by blocking off the roads and sending the monsters and footsoldiers to disable the furnaces, which the group had to find another way past.
As blunt and no-nonsense as he is, Sooga is also the voice of the Yiga Clan and knows when to back down such as when Link blocks his kunai from striking Zelda and Terrako, seeing that the Hylian Champion never lets the princess out of his sight no matter what and puts Astor down when he tells him that he will risk becoming Ganon's enemy. Sooga also possesses common sense, as while he worships Calamity Ganon like the other members do, he knows full well that Ganon is not for mortal beings to control and order around, which implies that he knows of the beast's history where the villains have attempted to do so, only to succumb to its influence. He tries to warn Astor of this, but he is silently brushed off, and Sooga is later proven right when Astor tries to command Ganon to destroy the heroes but ends up getting absorbed instead.
Sooga isn't all bad. He does possess a sense of honor and is proven to be extremely loyal to Master Kohga and looks out for him, even in the direst of situations. He takes Kohga out of the battlefield in Gerudo Desert when the odds were against him. Their relationship goes a step further when Astor betrays them and uses the Yiga Footsoldiers' life energy to revive the Blights while straight up mocking them that they can actually be useful for once. Sooga tells Kohga to make a run for it, and he does so, but soon stops as he refused to leave his "best lackey", and Sooga swears to protect him, even if it would cost him his life. Sooga's devotion to Kohga started when he was a young man who is starving and trudging towards the Yiga Clan camp, and as he was being surrounded, Kohga stops them and gives him a Mighty Banana, and tells him that he will repay him at a later time. Both Master Kohga and Sooga treat each other as true friends and team members rather than a master-minion relationship.
