The Skull Woods are a recurring dungeon in The Legend of Zelda series that made appearances in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. It is usually a forest area that serves as a counterpart to the Lost Woods. In A Link to the Past, the Skull Woods is the Dark World version of the Lost Woods and in A Link Between Worlds, it is the Lorule version of the Lost Woods.

Theme and Navigation[]

The Skull Woods dungeon can be found inside the Skeleton Forest. The dungeon has multiple entrances that are hidden in the various large gaping skulls found all over the forest. Most of the dungeon is found under the forest but it is mostly composed of disconnected areas that connects the different parts of the forest together. Link must use the eight entries to navigate through the different underground portions of the dungeon and eventually reach the Boss and free one of the Maidens.

Theme and Navigation[]

Like in A Link to the Past, the Skull Woods are very similar in their layout and Link must once again use the various entries he finds in the forest to navigate through the dislocated underground sections. The actual dungeon is infested with wallmasters and Link must even exploit some of them to solve some puzzles. Once Link clears the dungeon, he gets to save Seres and awaken her as a sage.
