Pokémon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened is the third and final Pokémon the Series: Black and White movie and the sixteenth Pokémon movie overall. It was released in Japan on July 13, 2013. It premiered in the United Kingdom on CITV on October 19, 2013 and the United States on Cartoon Network on October 19, 2013. The movie features Genesect and Mewtwo in prominent roles. The "Genesect Army"—a group of five Genesect—appear in the film, led by a Shiny Genesect while the other four Genesect represent each of the four Drives; Mega Mewtwo Y is also featured, prior to its debut in Pokémon X and Y. The movie was featured with the Pikachu short Eevee and Friends.
Plot[]
Distressed due to the loss of their homeland, the Genesect Army attacks New Tork City. Coincidentally, Ash and his friends are visiting the city to see the park called Pokémon Hills. When the Genesect begin rampaging in the city, Ash Ketchum is protected by the sudden appearance of a familiar Pokémon—Mewtwo. Despite sympathizing with the plight of the Genesect, Mewtwo attempts to convince them to leave New Tork City and go somewhere else where artificial Pokémon can belong, only to get into a conflict with the Red Genesect that leads the team. Can Mewtwo overcome the Genesect to save New Tork City or is the city doomed to be destroyed and changed into the nest of a Pokémon left behind by history?

Reception[]
Rebecca Silverman of Anime News Network gave the dub an overall grade of B, describing the film as "a very dark film in such a kid-friendly franchise", and praised the film's animation, but stated: " Ash and his pals serve very little point ... at least they're still less extraneous than Team Rocket, who really could have been left out of the film." She concluded that the film "is cinematic in the scope of its art, pays attention to some of the darker aspects of the franchise's world, and as usual showcases a variety of interesting creatures against lovely backgrounds."
