Positive Vibes Cards

Remind someone to "Be Excellent" with a pair of positive vibes cards.
January's Crew Challenge for Canvas Corp is to create with the Compose Your Life paper pack. To see all the entries for this month's Good For The Creative Soul Challenge stop by
Handmade papers from the Compose Your Life collection steal the spotlight for this project. Layers of texture are topped with fussy cut roses. Sentiments edged with foiled paper urge the recipient to "Live Beautifully" and to "Be Amazing."
For these cards I used Crafter's Companion doily dies. They cut the intricate swirls and curves from  the hand made papers smoothly. The banner and heart dies are non branded.
Rinea Foiled paper edges these cards and backs the sentiments. Gold and Copper glossy finish paper is popped up with foam tape. The sentiments are hand trimmed from the paper collection.

Mermaid Mirror Cards From A Sketch

Finally found the time to play along with Sketchy Saturday. The card sketch was simple this week, which made it perfect for personal interpretation. I have all these mermaid themed products from Bella Blvd so I put those to good use.
 ~ Beautiful Day ~
Secrets Of The Sea collection comes with lovely puffy stickers. I used those to decorate the embossed, die-cut white frames. Rinea Foiled Paper takes up the center and gives the mirror impression.

The sentiments are stamps from the Sea View Collection by Sheena Douglass. I love getting craft magazines that come with freebies. This set was included with Creative Stamping from Practical Publishing.
Here is a peak at the sketch by Laurel Seabrook.

How To Make a Beautiful,Textured Card

Here's a few tips for making a beautiful textured card from scraps. Just like every other paper crafter, I have a scraps in every color, texture, and size. How does one combine those into a quick card that isn't to garish or confusing to look at?
This card is made entirely from left-overs. To keep it simple and to help the design flow I used layers of rectangles in different sizes. I used a rounded diecut and ornate red frame to contrast the pastel colors and straight lines that dominate this design.
ScraPerfect's Best Glue Ever works on multiple surfaces. With everything I had going on here it was the only choice! I had to have a fine tipped applicator for the detail pieces. The NO-Clog Writing Cap, also by ScraPerfect, saved the day.

The frame is diecut from Rinea's Ruby/Ruby Starstruck Foiled Paper. The derigible and sentiment are diecut from Rinea's Turquoise/Turquoise Starstruck Foiled PaperI finished off the card with dots of glitter glue. They add another pop of color and frame the central diecut.

Supplies:
Cardstock and Corrugated paper: 7-gypsies
white Glitter Cardstock:Craftsmith
Foiled Paper:Rinea
Glitter Glue:Ranger
Derigible Die:Amazon
Sentiment Die:Peachy Cheap
Adhesive:ScraPerfect

How to Make A Fantastic Card with Luxurious Feathers

This blog post is all about how to make a fantastic card with luxurious feathers and how to make it shine! Painted feathers, layered over black then foil paper, is enhanced by using Kreaxions #906 all around the edge. A simple color scheme and minimal layers give this card a dramatic presence.
~ Let The Magic Begin ~
I have been absolutely loving the painted feather ideas on Pinterest.
At a recent crop I diecut and then painted paper feathers while I chatted away with the ladies.
I have 6 shades of DecoArt Metallic paint and have been adding bling to my paper projects with delight! The feathers are detailed with Shimmering Silver. The leaves are painted with Zinc.

That glorious black and silver rose is hand made using Robin's Nest Paper's. Each petal is attached with just a smidge of the Best Glue Ever. The wood leaves, die cut feathers, 3-D rose, and layers of cardstock are all attached with Scraperfect's Best Glue Ever. The versatility of this adhesive makes crafting SO easy!!!
The black layer of paper is punched with Kreaxions Punch #906 at the corners using Insert C, and at the borders using Insert A. Find Kreaxions punches at Just Imagine Crafts.

Hello There

Today's project is a card for Just Imagine.
The circle frame with punched design uses Kreaxions Circle Cutter as well as Punch #916. I can't say enough how perfectly the Circle Cutter measures out the dimensions exactly. Reproducing a project exactly is a snap!
~ Hello There ~
I like to think inspiration is everywhere. For this card I found the following image on Pinterest and knew I wanted to use it as a sketch. Sticks don't make it through the mail to easily so I settled for modeling paste and a similar shape.
Do you find sketches and inspiration in unexpected places?

Supplies:
Paper:Craftsmith
Modeling Paste:Liquitex
Metal Charms:Michaels
Flowers:Previous Kit
Stamp:CTMH

Celebrate

I've been seeing beautiful mixed media cards with twine and other items looped to add depth to a card. I decided to recreate this look with paper.
~ Celebrate ~
The pink shreds of paper were simple to create and look so striking against the black paper. For this card I cut a 5" circle with the Kreaxions Circle Cutter. I reset the cutter to 1/2 inch smaller and repeated the process till I had several circles. I cut the circles in half and adhered them to the card front.
I trimmed the ends individually until I had a staggered look. I misted a flower to match the paper shreds and and attched it over the top with leaves. The gold crowns have a dot of adhesive and a strand of twine that lets them drape from under the flower.

Supplies:
Paper:Glitz, Fancy Pants, Craftsmith
Florals:Prima
Twine:Queen and Co
Stamp, Ink:Close To My Heart
Crown Punch:Kreaxions #611
Circle Cutter:Kreaxions

Escape

I love the look of Hot Air Balloons floating against the blue sky or the bright colors of a sunset. They look like a most elegant form of
~ Escape ~
To make this balloon you will need the following supplies:
3.5 and a 2.5 inch circle.
3.5 x 6 inch card stock
2 colors of Floss, 4 ft long
3.5 and 2.5 length of trim
Assorted mini-brads
Cut the 2.5 inch circle in half, then cut 1/2 inch off the rounded end.
Ink the edges of both circles.

Use dimensional adhesive or craft foam cut to size under the circle.
Adhere the circles to the card front.
Use the mini-brads to tack the trim to the center of the balloon and the rim of the basket.
Thread the floss between the brads, using one color at a time and skipping every other brad, as shown. To keep the floss from pulling too tight place a sharpie or other cylinder between the card front and the floss as you wrap it.
Tie off the ends and glue them to the under side.
Place card front on a 5x7 card base.

Supplies:
Paper:Fancy Pants, Pink Pasilee, Craftsmith
Brads, Craft Foam:Recollections
Floss:Prism
Trim:Stash
Ink:CTMH

Seven

Birthday celebrations at our house today!
My youngest was so pleased to discover he was born on the same day...though not the same month...as his Dad and his Sister.
Mama got SKILLS!!!

The "7" was elsewhere on the paper. I cut it out, popped it up, and framed it with a ledger print.
Quick Tip: The multiple patterns make this card look more complex then it really is.

Spring has sprung!!!
Which means some days it is sunny and others it pours rain.
Kreaxions Punch #912 has the perfect graphic for this season.
~Hello Spring~

Life Is a Gift

I'm thankful every morning for running water.
I'm thankful for indoor plumbing.
I'm thankful for a sturdy house and reliable vehicle.
I'm thankful for all my friends, crafty and otherwise!!!
Sometimes it's necessary to slow down and remember:

Crafting with Kreaxions punches is the quickest way to custom make paper doilies. A plethora of designs and sizes are just a circle cutter and punch away. Keeping a few paper doilies on hand allows for quick card making. I keep a sweet little bin with paper accessories ready on my crafting desk. Try it out, see if you can squeeze just a few more minutes to craft out of your day!

The Key to Love

My favorite card season is upon us!
I just love dressing paper up with lace, and trinkets, and lots of sparkle.

For the twine wrap around the frame I left a loop on the outside of the frame, passed the twine under the frame to the inside, over the frame, and through the loop. Then I gently tightened it and made another loop.

Sparkle Flake

Winter in the Pacific Northwest is just right for papercrafting.
One thinks highly of enjoying the outdoors through the windows rather than from the drivers seat!!!
Although this gold foil design is not 6-sided, it was made with the idea of a snowflake in mind. I used the Kreaxions circle cutter, star template, and punches #907 and #909.
The gold foil paper and Red music notes are by Craftsmith Co., from last years Christmas release. And not to be neglected is that delightful gold embossing powder from WOW and the little red brad from Recollections.
A tutorial on punching snowflakes will be available on January 14th.
