Al-Jahiz (natus anno 776 Basrae; mortuus mense Decembri anno 868 aut Ianuario anno 869; Arabice:الجاحظ = al-Ǧāḥiẓ; verius أبو عثمان عمرو بن بحر محبوب الكناني الليثي البصري = Abū ʿUṯmān ʿAmr ibn Baḥr Maḥbūn al-Kinānī al-Līṭī al-Baṣrī) fuit scriptor Arabicus.

Auctor prosae Arabicae traditionem Arabicam cum philosophia Graeca coniungere studuit. Plus quam ducenta opera reliquit, quorum circiter quinquaginta exstant.
