Patrick Basham is a minor character that appears in Hitman: Absolution. He appears during the mission "Operation: Sledgehammer" in the third segment "Burn".

Overview[]

Near the end of the third segment "Burn" is a civilian found slumped against a wall, exhausted and out of breath. If looking closely he has a work ID pinned onto his shirt stating he is a supervisor.

Behind the Scenes[]

During the development of Hitman: Absolution, IO-Interactive developed many locations and missions with a great many being scrapped or cut before the final release. One of those locations was the Gentle Giant Supermarket. This location was originally going to appear in Operation Sledgehammer (With concepts of a Saint injuring 47 and dragging him to the back of the store). The location/segment although near completion was scrapped a good 8-9 months before the games' release. Images show customers and blood on the ground, implying that the ICA were executing civilians. Originally, Patrick went under the name "R. Prarott" this can be found on his work ID as in the final game shows a completely different name and a small logo of the Gentle Giant Supermarket.

This implies that he was originally the supermarket supervisor but as the location was cut from the game, the developers seemingly placed him in Burn either randomly or due to a lack of time. This also means that back when Patrick was formerly known as Mr. Prarott he probably had more roles than he does as a background character in the final game.

Trivia[]

  • Patrick Basham was a custom target in the Contracts Mode for Absolution.
    • Like Joana Collins, Hurg Derpos and others Patrick was rarely chosen as a custom target in the mode due to his strange placement in the mission and how on hard/purist mode the Agency Heavy Troopers were difficult to pass through.
  • Despite his placement in "Burn" the addition of him in the segment makes very little sense. As there is no supermarket in the area (other than the Hope Fair which becomes redundant due to the logo on his work ID).
  • His model is later re-used as a civilian NPC placeholder in early 2015 HITMAN™ alpha builds[1], in maps like Sapienza for instance.
