Ikat and other love stories.

My ikat love hasn't waned - nor has my love of dishes.  I'm super excited about these dishes from the new C. Wonder store - can't wait for them to get an online store up and running.  Have any of you been to the NYC store yet?  Looks like a fun shop with a lot of whimsy!

I'm always looking for the perfect cup & saucer - maybe these will even be in red too!

I've collected ikat plates and bowls over the years - and these would complement my collection well!  They mix great with my vintage blue willow dishes (another favorite growing collection).  Speaking of blue willow - I'm kind of obsessed with this blue willow inspired wallpaper.

I'm also loving this coffee table - I can just see my perfect ikat cup & saucer in this setting!

is for Invitations.

We love Invitations. Especially invitations and cards that are handmade. When we were growing up, Rach and I always made handmade cards for our parents on every occasion - and we still do! Time to make a mother's day card! I always thought Rach's cards were better. I still love the handcrafted feel of an invitation. I feel like it is a great way to express your personality. There is something so exciting about getting a real invitation in the mail! After the event you have a tangible reminder of your experience to treasure.

This is an invitation I made for my dad's 70th birthday party. It features a transparency of him on a scooter in Hawaii while he was in the Marines. I have always loved that picture, so I thought it would be a good one to use. What a guy!

I love this handmade save the date by Anna Bond for Rifle Design. It reminds me of this Liberty fabric (below).

I love everything about this invitation. My dear friend Jill is getting married and we have been talking about invitations. So exciting! We both love the floating banner in images. Especially when they are held up by birds! I love the handwriting and the curtains! This reminds me of the little painted portraits at the end of the movie Emma, so delicate and detailed.

How cute is this dinner menu on lined school paper?
I would love to find something so beautiful at the table!

Another great invitation by Rifle Design!

Love the lanterns in the trees! Our grandfather was a sign painter and his work had a great primitive quality. These invitations remind me of that.

Another cute bride and groom with a floating banner!

Love this nautical invitation by Liam Stevens. The knots are so cute!

ILLUSTRATION.

I love the illustration in the opening and ending sequences of The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. I always look forward to seeing the stories depicted in the drawings at the end of the program. The drawings of the people and animals of Botswana are so adorable and make the characters in the show even more endearing! What a great talent! I love vintage globes and collect old retractable school maps for my home. These images remind me of my schoolhouse map of Africa. The blues and greens in the illustrations are reminiscent of the colors you find on those globes and maps. I love a good illustration!

is for IKAT.

We love Ikat.

No matter how much I see it around I still love it.

It appeals to my preppy roots.

It fits in so great with colors and old homes, which is where we feel at home.

I would love to have my table set with these beautiful bowls.
Filled with tom yum soup or homeade gazpacho for the summer.

And put my feet up on this gorgeous ottoman!
While sitting on a black and white awning striped sofa!
I have been obsessed with this John Robshaw red poppy print forever and it is no longer available. It would also be gorgeous on a sofa.
