آلفرد نورث وایت‌هد (به انگلیسی: Alfred North Whitehead) (زاده ۱۵ فوریه ۱۸۶۱ – مرگ ۳۰ دسامبر ۱۹۴۷) فیلسوف و ریاضی‌دان انگلیسی بود.

از آلفرد نورث وایتهد کتاب «نمادگرایی (معنا و اثر آن)» توسط نیما حیاتی مهر به فارسی ترجمه شده و توسط نشر شدت به چاپ رسیده‌ است.[۱][۲]

زندگی

وایتهد در رامس���گیت، از توابع شهرستان کنت، در کشور انگلستان زاده شد. پدربزرگ وی از بنیان‌گذاران آکادمی چت‌من شناخته می‌شود، این آکادمی یک مدرسه نسبتاً موفق برای پسران به‌شمار می‌آید. آلفرد از مدارس شربورن و دور ست فارغ‌التحصیل شد. سپس وی، به بهترین مدارس عمومی کشور رفت. وی در دوران کودکی، بسیار محدود و تحت نظر خانواده بود؛ ولی در دوران مدرسه، در ورزش و ریاضی، سرآمد گردید و نفر اول کلاس شد. او کتاب‌هایی را در زمینه جبر، منطق، مبانی ریاضی، فلسفه علم، فیزیک، متافیزیک و آموزش نوشت. وایتهد استاد راهنمای پایان‌نامه دکتری برتراند راسل و ویلارد کواین بود. وی به همراه برتراند راسل کتاب اصول ریاضی را نگاشت.
