[edit]Borrowed from French tabaganne or toboggan, which derives from an Algonquian word, possibly the Mi'kmaq tepaqan the Abenaki dabôgan, or the Ojibwe daabaagan, all similar words in Eastern and Central Canadian Indigenous languages.
