Latvian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From a previous stem *ses- (whence the ordinal sestais; -s > -š probably caused by the final plural i, extended to this previously undeclinable stem by analogy), from Proto-Balto-Slavic *šéš (or *séš, if ruki sound law is applied regularly and without assimilation with final consonant), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *swéḱs.[1]
