      Ümitlerim kırıldı, bitti,
      Hayallerim yıkıldı, gitti,
      Bu dert beni benden etti,
Sevdim, sevdim, bak ne hâle geldim!
      My hopes were broken, lost,

Usage notes

[edit]
  • This verb is used in conjunction with foreign nouns or adjectives for the formation of compound verbs, similar to English make in make amends. For example dikkat etmek (to be careful), dans etmek (to dance), keşfetmek (to discover). With native Turkish words the verb-forming suffix -la / -le is typically used instead.
