It was spelled as 塢 in texts, but I'm not sure it's actually 塢 (MC 'uX) etymologically or just a case where there's a convenient semantically matching graph at hand. Tonal correspondence isn't great though.” |
Nowadays, this term seems to refer to gates of the fortified core of historical Hanoi. Some of these old city gates lent their names to modern toponyms like Ô Chợ Dừa.
