apteekki
Appearance
Finnish
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Apparently borrowed from Swedish apotek (“pharmacy”) with syncope.[1] Compare, however, Estonian apteek and German Low German Apteek. Ultimately from Ancient Greek ἀποθήκη (apothḗkē, “repository”) and a doublet of boutique and putiikki.
