amātus (feminine amāta, neuter amātum); first/second-declension participle

This template creates a headword line for all types of Latin participles. It replaces several templates that used to exist.

Parameters

  • |1= required
    The lemma. Normally this is all that needs to be specified, but in general it can be exactly as for {{la-adecl}}. A two-part specification is necessary for present participles of and compounds, e.g. {{la-part|abiēns/abeunt}} for the present participle of abeō. The template will automatically work out, based on the form of the participle, which type of participle it is (present, perfect, future or gerundive), and place the participle in the appropriate category (e.g. Category:Latin future participles) as well as Category:Latin participles.
  • |comp=, |comp2=, … optional
    The comparative form(s)
  • |sup=, |sup2=, … optional
    The superlative form(s)
  • |lemma= optional
    The lemma, with links in it. Rarely if ever needed for participles.
  • |num= optional
    Number restriction, if not specified as a subtype in |1=. Probably never needed for participles.
  • |title= optional
    Rarely if ever needed for participles.

Examples

In general, just specify the participle lemma, optionally with any comparatives and/or superlatives:

  • For participles of amō (to love):
    1. Present: {{la-part|amāns}}
    2. Perfect: {{la-part|amātus}}
    3. Future: {{la-part|amātūrus}}
    4. Gerundive: {{la-part|amandus}}
  • For participles of acuō (to sharpen):
    1. Present: {{la-part|acuēns}}
    2. Perfect: {{la-part|acūtus|comp=acūtior|sup=acūtissimus}}
    3. Future: {{la-part|acūtūrus}}
    4. Gerundive: {{la-part|acuendus}}
  • For participles of adeō (to approach):
    1. Present: {{la-part|adiēns/adeunt}}
    2. Perfect: {{la-part|aditus}}
    3. Future: {{la-part|aditūrus}}
    4. Gerundive: {{la-part|adeundus}}
