Which tree/plant?
[edit]Which tree or plant is this? The definition seems inadequate. Is it Cordia dichotoma? 24.29.238.60 10:37, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
- It is a tree, no matter what kind it is. --Wihwang 10:20, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
One of the definitions provided for 樹 is “plant”. In english, there are two definitions for “plant”, the verb and the noun, which are quite different in meaning. Does “plant” mean: “a plant” (small tree, shrub, weed, etc) or “to plant” (placing a plant/seed/cutting in the ground or pot). Charlieb000 (talk) 22:47, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
- If you're talking about the Chinese entry, the short answer is "yes". The first two senses are for use as a verb, but the third sense shows it can be used as a noun, so I suspect the fourth sense is for use as a noun, also. Chinese is very flexible about part of speech, so many words like this one have whatever part of speech that the context requires. Chuck Entz (talk) 04:50, 29 November 2016 (UTC)
