Etymology
[edit]From Old English, "Effa's farmstead," from Effa + -ing + ham (“home”).[1] The first element is a variant of Æffa, Uffa, a king of the Angles (c. 575), attested in names such as Abridge, Uffington, and Ufford, but of uncertain origin.[2][3]
