Areal etymon. Compare Khmer រង (rɔɔng, be light, bright, become clear, clarify), Old Mon to glitter (ˀaråṅ), Burmese ရောင် (raung, brightness), အရောင် (a.raung, appearance, colour, luster). Possibly related to (OC raŋh). (Schuessler, 2007)
