      Etymology 3

      [edit]

Probably related to Hittite [script needed] (pippa-, to overturn), [script needed] (pa-i-mi-, goes). Burrow and Whitney's derivations of the root as a semantic specialization of Etymology 2 ("to drink") are less likely.
