    Inherited from Middle Hindi بادل (badl /⁠bādal⁠/) (c. 1503) / بدل (bdl /⁠badal⁠/) (c. 1434),[1] from Prakrit 𑀯𑀤𑁆𑀤𑀮 (vaddala),[2] from Sanskrit वार्दल (vārdala).[3]
