[edit]Inherited from Bulgar بيال (biyel, “five”),[1] itself inherited from Proto-Turkic *bẹ̄ĺ (“five”).[2][3]
Cognate with Khalaj bêş, Turkish beş, Karakhanid بٖيشْ (bḗš, “five”), Uzbek besh, Bashkir биш (biş), Old Turkic 𐰋𐰃𐱁 (béš, “five”) and Yakut биэс (bies).
