Top 10
Top 10 Medical Editor Barnstar 2024
You were one of the top medical editors on English in 2024.
Thank you for your hard work! —Mvolz (talk) 15:50, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm one of the top ten with only 2,992 edits? That seems low. Although Doc James' last 500 edits only go back to June so I guess it is right. I suppose these 2,992 edits are from when I created the physician articles from the DNB. I'll take it! Thanks! ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 18:20, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Any chance you can check Green Bay Packers all-time roster and see if I missed anyone from 2024. See if the numbers match up? I think I have 1,853, while PFR has 1,856. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 20:57, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Interested in participating in an interview study regarding LLMs?

[edit]

Dear @WikiOriginal-9,

It is our pleasure to invite you to join a study at the University of Minnesota! The objective of the study is to understand how large language models (LLMs) impact the collaborative knowledge production process, by investigating knowledge contributors’ interactions with LLMs in practice.

If you have used LLMs (e.g., GPT, Llama, Claude...) in the process of contributing to Wikipedia (eg. grammar check, finding resources, writing scripts...), we’d love to join the study! You will be engaging in a 45-60 min interview, talking and reflecting about your experience with Wikipedia and your perception/usage of LLMs in Wikipedia. Your valuable input will not only help us understand practical ways to incorporate LLMs into the knowledge production process, but also help us generate guardrails about these practices. All participation would be anonymous.

In addition, if you know any editor who may have used LLMs during their edits, we highly appreciate it if you could share their contact with us, as we can reach out to them.

To learn more, please feel free to start a chat with me in email or take a look at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:How_LLMs_impact_knowledge_production_processes or direcly sign up: https://umn.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bqIjhNRg9Zqsuvs

Thank you so much for your time and consideration!

Subpages

[edit]

Hello WO9, I am on a spell of creating myself some subpages/sandboxes to help me with some articles I want to work on to keep in a more concise place. Are there rules or limitations that you are aware of regarding the creation of these pages? I do not want to cause grief for anyone if I make a bunch of user subpages for myself. I tried to look for information and I could not find anything. Red Director (talk) 15:57, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No, there aren't any limits. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 17:36, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting tidbit

I thought you maybe would like this. Check this link: [3]

I think this the only article I have had a history like this for this lone (one edit a year lol). Red Director (talk) 19:17, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

How'd you figure that out? Just by chance? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 21:45, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I use Quarry to parse my edits over timeframes and I had some old files downloaded from a while back. Plugged them into excel and found a standard deviation tool to see articles by year and that guy showed up with a bunch of 1's on different years. Seems your adding "professional" was removed, while adding "current" (we discussed back at User_talk:Bagumba/Archive_36#Coaches). I now go back to the thousands of remaining "former American" players. —Bagumba (talk) 12:35, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the delete

[edit]

I must say, I thought my computer broke, I couldn't find the two messages. Then me and Mr. Bacardi realized that someone may have deleted a vandal. I saw the first sentence and was going to thank him and respond. Wow. I've been retired for five years and rarely come here before 4PM. I guess I could have more edits if I wasn't so lazy, lol. Thanks for looking out! P.S. The BTW name came from 'a pass rusher putting the hurt on a quarterback'. I was a LaMarr Woodley fan also. P.S. No real wood ... I live in the Bronx, no fireplace. John. Bringingthewood (talk) 00:30, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking about leaving that troll there for you so you could have some fun with him but decided to just revert it since you usually delete your messages anyway, lol. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 00:36, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
HA! Shame on you for wanting me to feed the troll. Honestly, I almost had some fun after I realized what happened. I'll leave it alone for now, these types usually stick around. They will use up a lot of rope, while I sit here cleaning Charlene and smoking my cigar. ==== This is what I had on my WikiAnswers page years ago: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/bring_the_wood. I always had to explain the name. Regards, John. Bringingthewood (talk) 00:56, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
"They will use up a lot of rope" Very true. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 00:59, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I stand corrected .. not much at all. Muhammad Ali. Bringingthewood (talk) 01:10, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hah. At least he started a discussion. We'll see what happens... ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 01:15, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We will at that. Truthfully, I never understood the reasoning behind lower case. But when I did 'birthplace' and now 'thenickname', when someone gripes, things come to a halt. Not good. The Wikipedia machine has WP: and MOS: for a reason .. and like the words in Platoon, "When the machine breaks down, we break down". Like you said, we'll see. John. Bringingthewood (talk) 01:25, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think the majority agreed with you about birthplace. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 01:31, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you had a camera hidden here you would see a person jumping up and down for joy in the Bronx!! I'll take that. :) Bringingthewood (talk) 01:39, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That was a good one! Your ears must have been ringing, I was thinking of doing just that knowing you'd see it. But I was born in Manhattan. A hospital stay isn't lead worthy, lol. Bringingthewood (talk) 05:57, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You don't have an infobox though so we need to WP:PRESERVE it, lol. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 05:59, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
LOL! I also had to look at the Bronx article to see if I could have the T in caps. It reads: The Bronx is referred to with the definite article as "the Bronx" or "The Bronx", both legally and colloquially. (I didn't want to be the one using all that rope up). Bringingthewood (talk) 06:03, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You're pretty fast at reverting. Is anyone going to block this guy? lol ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 06:25, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Now I feel bad. I think on the Muhammad Ali page, the editor you deleted for me is related to Goat. If you see Goat's page, I'm part of the mafia. You should be there also. I remember you being a Wiki-Goombah at one time. Just saying. Bringingthewood (talk) 23:44, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That is a little odd. I'm not 100% sure if they're the same person or not though... ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 23:55, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah .. I went with Tony Soprano and Wikipedia Mafia, lol. I'll let you enjoy your weekend. Maybe a vandal will show up later ... and we'll see the return of "WIKIORIGINAL-9 aka the KILLER PORCUPINE" See you later. Regards, Chowderhead. Bringingthewood (talk) 00:13, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
