Primary Destinations
[edit]Hi there: I've noticed you've been adding Tonbridge et al to the list of Primary Destinations on the A21 and A26 articles. Primary Destinations are actually defined by the Department for Transport (or its predecessors) in the Local Transport Note 1/94. I have made the article List of primary destinations on the United Kingdom road network on the basis of that source, which to my professional knowledge is the only guidance on what constitutes a "Primary Destination". I have no idea why somewhere as important as Tonbridge was omitted, but I can only guess that it is too close to Sevenoaks, which is the confluence of A21/M25/M26 and therefore is more important in terms of route navigation. If however, you are aware of any other official guidance to the contrary, please edit List of primary destinations on the United Kingdom road network and make reference to it. Please note that road signs are often wrong, as many County Engineers themselves are unaware of the official guidance that surrounds Primary Destinations. — MapsMan [ talk | cont ] — 08:52, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back to me: I'm not sure if there's an official definition of what a Primary Destination, but the destinations themselves are prescribed as I've mentioned above. The theory is that they are places traffic will be more likely to need to look for: obviously big cities, but the smaller towns are generally included where they serve some kind of strategic function or at a junction of two major roads, most notably Scotch Corner, Llangurig and Crianlarich, which are all tiny places but at the confluence of two or more trunk/prinicpal routes. There are lots of large towns that people assume to be PDs but are in fact not, e.g. Livingston. I hope that has answered the question: it's a tricky subject because even those who should know about correct signing protocols, i.e. Local Authorities, are themselves incredibly ignorant of the rules and guidelines. — MapsMan [ talk | cont ] — 16:33, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of File:A23hilly.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:A23hilly.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The file File:Ws8.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Orphaned, unused file since November 2007.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}

Image source problem with File:Esussexseremonial.png
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Esussexseremonial.png.
This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.
If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F4 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 08:14, 28 March 2021 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --TheImaCow (talk) 08:14, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
